Xiaomi introduced today the Redmi Note 12 series to global markets. The smartphone maker brought the already-known Redmi Note 12 5G, Note 12 Pro 5G, and 12 Pro+ 5G. Along with these three smartphones, Xiaomi also introduced an all-new Redmi Note 12 4G variant. This is not available in China but will find its way to users that don’t need 5G. The Redmi Note 12 4G will also reach the Indian market on March 30. Now it is available in Europe and brings the usual specs of an all-around mid-range phone plus a rare Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 SoC.
Redmi Note 12 4G specifications
The Redmi Note 12 4G is not the lowest of smartphones. It still brings a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The device also offers support for a 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The panel is an 8-bit display with support for a DCI-P3 color gamut of 1,200 nits of peak brightness. The device has a centered punch-hole cutout that houses a 13-Megapixel front-facing shooter. Interestingly, this display also packs Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
Moving around to the back, the smartphone flaunts a triple-camera setup with a 50-Megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The device also has an 8-Megapixel ultrawide shooter with a 120-degree FOV and a 2-MP macro shooter.
Gizchina News of the week
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 12 4G variant packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset. This chipset came out of nowhere to power the Redmi Note 12 4G. We can say that it is Qualcomm’s response to MediaTek’s Helio G-series that has been present in a plethora of mid-range smartphones. Therefore, this is a 6nm SoC with 4 x ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at up to 2.8 GHz. Further, it has 4 x ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.9 GHz. The phone also brings Adreno 610 GPU. This variant of the smartphone has 4 GB of RAM with up to 128 GB of Internal Storage. Unlike some Redmi Note 12 variants, this one has a micro SD card slot for more storage.
The Redmi Note 12 4G draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. The device has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Other features in this smartphone include a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR Blaster, IP53 rating, and Bluetooth 5.0. In terms of software, this smartphone runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14. This is an advantage over the Redmi Note 12 series family that was launched in China in India. Most of these smartphones arrived with Android 12 and MIUI 13. The latest 4G variant is coming with Xiaomi’s latest software update.
Pricing and Availability
The new smartphone comes in two options – 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128 GB. The price of the smartphone is €229,99. However, there is an early bird offer that brings the price down to €199.99. The smartphone variant with 128 GB of RAM will cost €249,99. The smartphone will sell in three colors – Ice Blue, Onyx Grey, and Mint Green.
Worth noting that the brand is expected to launch another Redmi Note 12 Turbo variant in China. This one is set to launch globally as POCO F5 5G.
