Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has just released a group of new smartphone devices, including the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+. However, they also quietly added two lower-end devices to their Mi global website: the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+.
Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ affordable smartphones are launched
The Redmi A2 has a 6.52-inch 720×1600 touchscreen and is powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC with either 2 or 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of expandable storage, an 8 MP rear camera with a QVGA auxiliary lens, a 5 MP selfie camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging support. It comes with a 10W charger in the box and charges via microUSB.
The phone runs Android 12 (Go Edition) and doesn’t have 5G support, but it does have a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Redmi A2+ is essentially the same device, but with a fingerprint sensor on the rear. Both phones are available in light blue, light green, and black.
Gizchina News of the week
Although these devices are low-end, they offer affordable options for those who don’t need the latest and greatest technology. With their basic features and low price point, they may appeal to those who are looking for a simple and functional device without paying too much.
It’s interesting to see Xiaomi quietly adding these devices to their website without much fanfare. Suggesting that they may not be a major focus for the company. However, they still offer value to consumers who are looking for a budget-friendly option.
Overall, the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ may not be the most exciting devices on the market. But they provide an affordable option for those who just need a basic smartphone. With features like expandable storage, a headphone jack, and a large battery, they offer practical functionality for everyday use. We expect that they will get a lot of sales in several markets.
