Samsung is set to expand its foldable phone lineup this year with the launch of two new models – the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These new devices will come with significant upgrades, including a waterdrop hinge that will allow the phones to fold shut without leaving a gap between the two sides.

The rumors suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a much larger cover display than its predecessor. The first Z Flip model had a tiny 1.1-inch cover display. While the Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4 brought the cover screen size up to 1.9 inches. Although this was an improvement, the cover screen was still not very usable.

The display area on the outside of the Z Flip 5 will cover as much space as possible. It is not yet clear whether Samsung will allow users to use entire apps on the cover display, as can be done on the Motorola RAZR. The exact size of the cover screen is also uncertain.
