Samsung is set to expand its foldable phone lineup this year with the launch of two new models – the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These new devices will come with significant upgrades, including a waterdrop hinge that will allow the phones to fold shut without leaving a gap between the two sides.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 to receive a considerably larger secondary screen
The rumors suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a much larger cover display than its predecessor. The first Z Flip model had a tiny 1.1-inch cover display. While the Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4 brought the cover screen size up to 1.9 inches. Although this was an improvement, the cover screen was still not very usable.
Gizchina News of the week
Recent leaks and concept images suggest that the cover screen on the Z Flip 5 will be significantly larger than that of the Z Flip 4. The display area on the outside of the Z Flip 5 will cover as much space as possible. Making it easier to perform tasks like checking notifications and replying to messages without having to unfold the phone.
It is not yet clear whether Samsung will allow users to use entire apps on the cover display, as can be done on the Motorola RAZR. The exact size of the cover screen is also uncertain. Although we expect it to be somewhere between 3 to 4 inches. It will be good news for fans of smartphones of this form factor.
As for the main foldable display, there is no information on whether it will bring any changes. However, the waterdrop hinge will reduce the visibility of the crease. More rumors and leaks will surface in the coming months. Providing a clearer picture of the Z Flip 5’s specs and features. So stay tuned for more details in this regard.
