Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, released the Xiaomi 13 series back in December. At the launch event, the company unveiled the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. There are reports that it will still launch the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in the coming months. However, there are now reports about its coming flagship series, Xiaomi 14. According to popular tech blogger @iceuniverse, the Xiaomi 14 screen will be narrower than that of the iPhone. In addition, the supplier of the display will be Huaxing Optoelectronics.

Xiaomi 14 display to have an ultra-thin bezel

Huaxing has currently created a screen with a super thin border, attaining an ultra-thin design with a four-sided border of 1mm. The lower border is cut by around 23% compared to the market’s standard high-end brand mobile phone (1.45mm). With this thin bezel, it means that the display surface as well as its ratio will be much higher. This will give users a better sensory feel.

There are reports that Huaxing revised and improved the initial circuit routing method of the lower border in order to produce this screen with a screen ratio of over 100%. Also, Huaxing adjusted the design of the new circuit structure for the limited border. The wires can be applied to a range of mobile phone forms and are moved to the interior of the display area. It, therefore, structurally avoids the fanout wiring space needed by the lower frame. Also, CSOT has built a very tiny frame and 2.5D curved CG to boost the aesthetic effect of the screen and better the user’s screen experience.

Although the Huaxing screen border is just 1mm, it should be noted that mass production must take into account complex trials like drop tests. Thus, it is likely that the screen border will be a little bit more than 1mm. The Xiaomi 14 will make its debut at the end of the year with this screen installed. It will be the premium flagship with the industry’s smallest frame.
