Solid-state buttons have been the new talk of the town for the last few months. To be exact, we have even had a real image leak that showcased iPhone 15 Pro with solid-state buttons. However, Apple has supposedly ditched the plan and decided to stick with physical power and volume buttons instead.
The news comes from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who successfully predicted the solid-state button push in October. And as you can tell from the leaked renders, Apple considered replacing the physical buttons of the iPhone 15 Pro models with solid-state ones. But now, Ming-Chi Kuo is saying that Apple wants to play it safe.
No Solid-State Buttons on iPhone 15 Pro Models
According to the latest survey by Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has unresolved technical issues regarding the solid-state buttons. These issues are hindering the phones from entering the mass production stage. For that reason, both the high-end models of the iPhone 15 series will abandon the closely-watched solid-state buttons. Instead, they will stick with traditional physical button design.

That said, Ming-Chi Kuo is not the only one that has reported regarding the shift. As 9to5Mac has reported, another analyst, Haitong Tech’s Jeff Pu, thinks the same thing. That is, even with all the leaks and rumors, Apple will utilize traditional mechanical buttons for the iPhone 15 Pro devices.
The report from Ming-Chi Kuo does bring out the question, what unresolved issues is Apple facing with solid-state buttons? Well, unfortunately, Ming-Chi Kuo did not share many details regarding that. However, he did mention that there will not be any delays in the production of iPhone 15 Pro models if Apple reverts to the original design.
Of course, this is not a piece of good news for the suppliers of the solid-state button hardware. However, just because the design did not debut with the iPhone 15 series, it does not mean that we will not see it in future models.
