Huawei’s dual flagship strategy returns! Mate 60 series gets a launch date

Huawei Mate 50 Pro

Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, is all set to restart its usual dual flagship release within a year. Recall that after the U.S. ban hit the company hard, it had to step down some of its usual devices. The company could not release two flagships every year for obvious reasons. Now, all that is water under the bridge as it is set to resume. TheĀ Mate 50 was released last year, and Huawei released the P60 this spring. There are now reports that Huawei will launch the Mate 60 series in the second half of this year. This means that Huaweiā€™s product release has finally returned to the P series in the spring (first half of the year) while the Mate series drops in the fall (the second half of the year). This is the dual flagship strategy that Huawei is known for.

Huawei Mate 60 series is coming

The report from tech bloggerĀ Wisdom Pikachu, claims that Huawei will release the Mate 60 in Q3 this year. Combined with the previously disclosed information,Ā this time the Huawei Mate 60 series will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 4G chip. However, this chip will not come with the 5G baseband.

Based on TSMC’s 4nm process, the CPU part adopts a brand-new 1+4+3 eight-core architecture. This includes a super-large core Kryo Prime core (based on Cortex-X3), and the main frequency of the CPU is 3.2GHz. This can provide high single-thread performance. There are also four performance cores running at 2.8GHz for better handling of multi-threaded workloads. Finally, there are three efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz.

With this tech, under complex light conditions, the phone can match bright and dark scenes easily.
