The POCO community is eagerly waiting for the next big thing that will come under POCO F-series. While the POCO X-series has been updated earlier this year with the POCO X5 and X5 Pro, we’re still waiting for new POCO F handsets. As per the leaks, POCO will launch the POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro very soon. As usual for the brand, they will be based on existing Redmi smartphones. While the POCO F5 Pro will be a rebadged Redmi K60, the vanilla is a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Today, the latter was spotted on a Geekbench benchmark. That confirms our belief that the phone is a rebranded Note 12 Turbo.
POCO F5 is a rebadged Redmi Note 12 Turbo
As per the Geekbench test run, the POCO F5 global variant with 23049PCD8G will bring the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 CPU. The device will pack up to 12 GB of RAM. When it comes to the software, the device will run Android 13 OS straight out of the box with MIUI 14. As per the Geekbench, the device scores 1,629 and 4,295 in single-core and multi-core tests respectively. We don’t have many Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 runs to compare, but the results fall in line with that of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo.
Gizchina News of the week
Interestingly, the Indian version of the phone passed by Geekbench with 8 GB of RAM. So we assume there will be options with 8 GB and 12 GB of RAM. We can expect 128 GB and 256 GB of Storage options.
Considering the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, the POCO F5 should also bring a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution. The device may bring an in-display fingerprint scanner and up to 120 Hz refresh rate. In terms of optics, the device should bring a 64 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP macro sensor. The selfie department will be handled by a 16 MP camera. The phone will draw its power from a 5,000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging. We also expect a 3.5 mm audio jack, NFC, Stereo Speakers, and IR Blaster.
There is also a Redmi Note 12 Turbo variant that has up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of Storage. We don’t know if this variant will also reach global markets. Anyway, the device is selling rocky-strong in China. We expect it to be another hit for the POCO Family.
There is still no official word on the release of the POCO F5 and F5 Pro. However, considering the number of leaks, we expect they to come very soon.
