In this world of technological advancement, who does not need security? Everyone around the world needs some form of security one way or the other. As long as you use a smartphone in your everyday life, it is very important to make your privacy and security a top priority. Most hackers and intruders mostly target our smartphones these days and they usually target some apps.
WhatsApp is one of the most common apps you can find on any smartphone today. As a matter of fact, it is the most popular instant messaging app in the world today. It has over 2 billion users around the globe. Due to its popularity, it goes down as one of the most targeted apps by hackers and cyberattacks.
WhatsApp on the other hand is much aware of the multiple attacks on its app every day. Hence, the company is always working around the clock to make the app as secure as possible. The company has introduced several security features to make the app as safe as possible to use. Features like end-to-end encryption and two factor authentication are just a few of the security features on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp Has Introduced Chat Lock Feature
With the latest security feature, users will have total control over the privacy of their chats. WhatsApp calls this feature “Chat Lock”. With this feature, you get to lock your chats the way you want. Which means, even if someone finds their way into your WhatsApp, it still won’t be enough to get sensitive chat information.

The feature allows you to lock individual chats in your WhatsApp. This means, you can decide to lock all chats that contain private or sensitive information one after the other. To activate this feature on any chat, just open the chat info of that particular chat. If the feature is available, you should see it added to the list in the chat info. You can just tap on the toggle button to turn it on.
After enabling the feature on any chat, it will show in the chat list as a new section. To be able to open this section, you have to do so by scanning your fingerprint. This makes it impossible for any third-party to access such chats. Also, all media files within the locked chats stay in there. Images, videos and other files within locked chats are not stored in your phone’s storage.
When a third-party fails to input the passcode or use the fingerprint to open locked chats, the only way to open that chat is for the system to clear that chat. This is to ensure that there is no way to access locked chats without the users’ concern.
Availability of the WhatsApp Chat Lock Feature
Currently, some lucky beta testers on Android already have the feature. More beta testers will access it in the coming weeks. Always make sure your WhatsApp is up to date in order to get the new feature once it becomes available.
