Earlier this week, Apple made the third beta of the iOS 16.5 available to developers and testers. The new software definitely comes with a couple of bug fixes and optimizations. However we have discovered two main additions so far.
The Apple News app comes with a new tab that is dedicated for sports. Also, you can now start a new screen recording with Siri. Now, let’s discuss these new features below.
Apple will likely release the final version to the general public in May. The company may add more features before the final launch or in future iOS updates. You can either join the Apple Developer Program Medmbership which will cost you $99 every year. Or, you can also join the free Apple Beta Software Program in order to test the software before final release.
Apple News Sports Tab (iOS 16.5 Features)
After updating your iOS device to 16.5,you will realize that the Apple News app has a new tab. This tab is labeled ‘Sports’. This tab is a dedicated tab which presents only news that are related to sports.

From this tab, you can also check the scores and games schedule for your favorite teams. Before this change, you could find such content under the ‘today tab’. Apple has decided to make it easily accessible by keeping all sports content under one main tab. Apple is currently pushing for more sports content across all of its devices.
Screen Recording with Siri (iOS 16.5 Features)
This addition may look small but it adds a lot of value to life. With this, you can use your voice to ask Siri to do a screen recording for you. All you need to do is to say “Hey Siri, start screen recording”, and it will start recording video on your iPhone screen.
Wrap Up
Apple is adding just a few features to the iOS 16.5. This is mainly because the iOS 17 launch is just around the corner, launching at the WWDC in June. So, it makes sense for the company to reserve all the big features for the big launch event
