Like other social media platforms, WhatsApp is always in the news for interesting updates. WhatsApp will soon be releasing a transcription feature for voice messages. At the moment, Whatsapp’s latest voice note feature is available to some iOS beta testers. The feature is designed to improve the overall user experience on the platform. As per the WABetaInfo, the feature is in testing mode.
This is a great feature for users who have no knowledge of the sender’s language. With this feature, users will be able to convert the audio message into text, making it easier to understand the message. There are several other functions of this feature that will take some time to get into the update.
WhatsAppās Latest Voice Note Feature Is A Good Thing To Welcomeā¦
WhatsApp’s news tracker said,
“After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.70 update available on the TestFlight app, we can confirm that WhatsApp is finally releasing this feature to some beta testers!”

The screenshot below shows that a user has sent the voice note along with the transcription. The social media app will enable this feature by default, but you can disable it. To disable this feature, you need to go to the WhatsApp settings and tap on the Chats option. Here you will see the option for Voice Message transcripts.
The WhatsApp message tracker goes on to explain,
“Note that this feature always has end-to-end encryption, as the transcription process takes place locally on the user’s device using language packs. For this reason, the ability to transcribe messages is only available for some users on newer versions of iOS. The feature uses the latest APIs provided by iOS 16. This allows the app to process the voice message locally on the user’s device without the need to transfer the message to external servers.”
WhatsApp’s latest voice note feature will make it easier for users to find the information they need within the message. They do not need to listen to the entire voice note to extract the information they need.
“The ability to transcribe voice notes is available to a few beta testers who can install the latest version of the WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app and will be rolled out to more people in the coming weeks.”
