If you have been using Instagram for a good while, you may have already uploaded a lot of stories that excluded all other users than some selective ones. Yes, I am talking about the “Close Friends” feature that lets you make your stories available only to select followers.
Well, Instagram is reportedly expanding the feature. That is, it could soon make its way to posts. With this update in place, you can put out photos and videos that will be hidden from all but your close friends. And it will bring a new “Audience” tab on the post section.
Instagram Is Working On Posts With Close Friends Feature
The information comes from Alessandro Paluzzi, who is a reverse engineer and a mobile developer. Based on the screenshot that the tipster provided, Instagram is working on a feature that will let you keep your posts hidden from all but your close friends. This would eventually allow the users put out exclusive posts on the platform.

Much like how “Close Friends” work in terms of stories, the feature will bring a new “Audience” tab to the posting mechanism. This could also benefit content creators. Last month, the platform added another feature that users requested. It allows the users to put multiple links under the profile.
Instagram also allows users to add a soundtrack to a photo posted on the feed. And reportedly, the platform is testing the same feature for the carousel posts and notes. That said, there’s no clear information regarding when the “Close Friends” will be available for posts.
But as Instagram is already testing the feature, it is likely to be introduced in future updates. So, if you want to be among the first to test out the feature, make sure to keep the app updated. Here’s the link to the app on App Store and Google Play Store.
