According to rumors, OnePlus 12 will be a proper upgrade over the OnePlus 11. In fact, the upcoming phone is expected to make a long-awaited comeback for OnePlus in the smartphone world. Wondering how the Chinese manufacturer will manage to do that?

Rumor has it that OnePlus 12 will bring out the big guns on the rear camera setup. And as per the latest reports, the phone will feature competent specs. Combined, the upcoming phone is said to go head-to-head with the Galaxy S24 series and the iPhone 15 lineup.

OnePlus 12 Is Currently Being Tested With A Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

As the current rumor says, the OnePlus 12 is being tested with a Snapdragon SM8650. That is the codename for the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But that chipset is quite expected as the company tends to offer the latest and greatest SoCs.

Well, the SoC is not the main highlight. According to Digital Chat Station, OnePlus 12 test model has an upgraded camera setup. To be exact, the well-known leaker shared that OnePlus has a “periscope arrangement” planned for the next phone. For those who are unaware, OnePlus 11 models use a standard telephoto sensor. Now, while telephoto sensors work fine, they are not that great for capturing details.

So, if OnePlus 12 does indeed come with a periscope sensor, we might see better zoomed-up images from the upcoming device. Maybe, the phone will even beat the zooming abilities of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. And that phone has been praised by many for its zoom features.

Nonetheless, with a beefed-up camera arrangement and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, OnePlus 12 could indeed put OnePlus back on track. But the biggest concern that I have at the moment is the pricing. OnePlus might raise the starting price of the upcoming phone. After all, we have seen the same happening with all other devices. Even the “affordable” Pixel 7a saw a price hike!
