In the past few months, we have been flooded by leaks and rumors regarding to Motorola’s new foldable phone. It turns out that the company will not launch just one, but two foldable phones under the RAZR series. Also, the company’s flip-foldable phone series is getting a rebranding. It will now follow the company’s flagship lineup, and we will see the new devices launching as Motorola RAZR 40 and Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra. After multiple teasers, rumors, and leaks, we finally have an official date. Motorola confirmed that the new foldable phones will reach on June 1.
Motorola RAZR 40 and 40 Ultra specs
As per the rumors and teasers, the Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra is the flagship variant. It will come with a 6.9-inch FHD+ inner OLED display with a 120 Hz or 144 Hz refresh rate. The outer display is tipped to be between 3.5 and 3.6 inches. That said, it should have one of the biggest, if not the biggest, displays among clamshell foldable. Under the hood, we will get the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
This may disappoint some users. After all, it means the device will be behind the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Vivo X Fold2. The former has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy, while the latter has the standard variant. We don’t know how Motorola will position this device among the 2023 foldable devices, if it’s cheaper, then the choice of the older flagship chipset can be justified.
Gizchina News of the week
The Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra will also bring a 12 MP main camera and a 13 MP ultrawide shooter. It will bring a 3,640 mAh Battery with 33W charging. That’s a good capacity for a device with a challenging design. As per the rumors, the device will cost about €1,299 in Europe.
Regrettably, details about the specs of the vanilla Motorola RAZR 40 remain uncertain. It could bring a smaller battery and a smaller cover screen. We also don’t know if it will retain the same chipset as the Ultra variant. Anyway, the rumors say it could come at €899 price tag, making it the cheapest foldable phone to date.
Both devices will likely run Android 13 OS straight out of the box. Besides Europe, there is no info regarding to their price in other regions. However, we also expect them to launch in other markets in Asia and North America. Honestly, Motorola seems to have a good triumph card by being the first to offer a foldable phone below the $1,000 mark. It seriously needs to bring this device to as many markets as possible. After all, the company can get the interest of several users that want to try a foldable but are not paying anything beyond $1,000.
