Huawei held the summer launch event and released a generation of top smartwatch, Huawei WATCH 4 series. This new watch series has two models, the Huawei Watch 4 and Huawei Watch 4 Pro. It’s worth noting that Huawei first launched the Watch 4 series in Germany on May 9. The company has now released this device in the Chinese market. The main selling point of the Huawei Watch 4 series is the new health feature. The Watch 4 series can carry out high blood sugar risk assessment and this has been tested by Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and China Healthcare International Exchange Promotion Association.
From the official launch notes, the Huawei Watch 4 series is based on Huawei TruSeenTM 5.0. As the user wears the device from time to time, it integrates vital sign monitoring data in different states during the day and night. After wearing the device regularly for more than seven days, it can detect the risk of hyperglycemia. It will assess and advise the user based on the risk level. Thus, this feature will only work for those that wear their watch regularly. The watch will need some time to study the condition of the user before giving any advice.
Huawei Watch 4 series features
Health
In addition, Huawei WATCH 4 series also supports micro – physical examination function. This feature can quickly monitor and risk assess 10 items of health data. It can quickly detect heart rate, blood oxygen, pressure, body temperature, electrocardiogram, blood vessel elasticity, blood vessel risk screening, lung function assessment, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease risk screening, and lung infection risk screening. After checking, the watch will generate a micro – exam report on the watch and app side at the same time. In addition, the watch will offer reminders from time to time based on health trend analysis.
The watch also provides users with end – to – end smart health closed – loop services. It does not only detect and remind, it also analyzes and consults. This is simply a health smart watch. It is also worth mentioning that the Huawei WATCH 4 series micro – physical exam function supports mobile phones with various systems. So, users do not need to have HarmonyOS to use the feature. It also supports Android and other systems.
In other respects, the Huawei WATCH 4 series comes standard with support for ECG analysis. It also supports heart health research, vascular health research, and respiratory health research. There is another new feature which is blood vessel age detection and cardiovascular risk screening. No doubt, all these features in a single watch seem very cool. However, we will have to wait for hands – on reviews before we can ascertain how well these features work.

Design & Sports
Away from the health features, we now look at the design of the Huawei Watch 4 series. The company’s design team used the circular dome as the main inspiration and created a spherical sapphire glass lens. According to Huawei, before it got to the final finish, the watch had to pass through more than 30 processes. The watch has a starry sky natural theme.
The HUAWEI WATCH 4 series features several professional sports modes. The available sports modes include golf, free diving, and mountaineering. In addition, during outdoor adventures such as mountaineering and hiking, the smart watch can generate a map. This means that as the user moves, the watch creates a map of the user’s path. Once the map is created, the user can use it offline to retrace steps back to the starting point.
System
In terms of interaction, the Huawei WATCH 4 series uses the new HarmonyOS 3.1 system. This new system comes with three major upgrades in the areas of independence, interaction, and interconnection. However, these features will work only in China and the system also supports listening to online music. The HarmonyOS system is like the icing on the cake for the Watch 4 series.
HarmonyOS’s convenient operation experience has a full frame rate of 60Hz. It also has a 30% increase in sensitivity as well as new features such as a negative screen, universal card, shortcut function folder, and floating task ball. It might take some time before users get used to some of these features.
As we may know, HarmonyOS focuses on IoT and the watch can link to multiple devices such as smart home, cars, mobile phones, earphones, and fitness equipment. Among them, the mileage, power and charging time of the car can be viewed remotely through the AITO App. Also, the car lock, window, air conditioner, and car search can also be remotely controlled to achieve a convenient car control experience.
Battery
Given the range of features offered by this watch, it’s reasonable to expect a decent battery life. Well, Huawei did not disappoint. In terms of battery life, Huawei WATCH 4 Pro supports 4.5 days of battery life (21 days in ultra-long battery life mode). Similarly, the Huawei Watch 4 supports 3 days of battery life (14 days in ultra-long battery life). It appears that the battery life is the most significant difference between the Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Pro. This device also supports 5ATM waterproofing.
