Collaborations between camera and smartphone manufacturers are not new. Over the last few years, we have seen many camera brand collaborations. That ranges from Hasselblad, Zeiss, and Leica. But there has not been a Canon branding in phones so far.
Well, Canon is looking forward to a collab with a smartphone manufacturer. That info comes from Digital Chat Station, which is a reliable tipster. This means that there is a possibility that we will see Canon branding on the rear of a smartphone soon.
There’s No Confirmation About Which Phone Canon Will Work With
It’s quite exciting to hear that a well-known camera giant wants to collab with a phone maker. Unfortunately, there’s no confirmation about which manufacturer it could be. But yes, there’s a high chance that Canon will not be partnering with Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, or Xiaomi, as they already have camera partners.
Gizchina News of the week
That leaves us with Samsung, Apple, Asus, Google, Huawei, Honor, Nothing, Motorola, and Realme. But it’s pretty clear that Apple and Samsung will not go through this route. And Sony would never collab with Canon as Sony is already a camera manufacturer.
So, there are six potential contenders for Canon to collab with. Wondering why would Apple and Samsung not go through this route? Well, camera-company collaboration is not that important. These phones generally see some minor tuning, such as the lens and color profiles.
But, Nothing Phone (2) is a good phone to consider at this stage, as it is scheduled for later this year. With Canon’s tuning, the phone’s camera could get a little boost.
And, of course, as Nothing Phone (2) is already hyped up, Canon would get a good level of exposure in the smartphone world with this collaboration. Hopefully, we will get more information about the camera giant’s plan in the upcoming weeks.
