Huawei Nova Y91 Announced With an iPhone-Like Display Design

Huawei Nova Y91

Huawei has silently announced a brand-new smartphone for the global market. Named Huawei Nova Y91, the smartphone appears to have taken inspiration from the iPhone 14 in terms of display design. It comes with a notch on the top that’s pretty similar to what you find in the regular iPhone 14 models.

But, of course, the hardware under the notch of the Huawei Nova Y91 is not the same as iPhone 14. Unlike the offerings from Apple, the Nova Y91 does not feature any face ID sensor. Still, that does not make the phone not worth it. Huawei has packed a lot of features into the device. Most importantly, it is expected to debut at a pretty affordable price!

Main Specs and Features of Huawei Nova Y91

One of the main highlights of the Huawei Nova Y91 is the display. It is a 6.95-inch LCD panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the 270 Hz sampling rate, it should offer you a smooth overall gaming experience. But can the SoC keep up with demanding games?

Well, under the hood, the Nova Y91 features a Snapdragon 680 chipset. Huawei offers two different versions of the phone. One comes with 128 GB of storage, while the other boasts 256 GB of internal space. Both come with 8 GB of RAM, which should be more than enough for mid-level games and day-to-day apps.

Huawei Nova Y91 Camera

Moving on, in the iPhone-like notch of the Huawei Nova Y91, there’s an 8MP selfie camera. On the back, the phone features a dual-camera layout with a circular island. The primary camera is 50MP, while the secondary is a 2MP depth sensor. Personally, I would have liked to see a wide-angle lens instead of a depth sensor.

But the good news is that there are a good number of camera features in the Huawei Nova Y91. That includes night portrait, high-res portrait, backlit portrait, bokeh portrait, exquisite landscape, and AI snapshot. The phone also has a continuous front and rear recording feature, letting you easily create cinematic-quality videos.

Huawei Nova Y91 Battery

Other than that, the Huawei Nova Y91 comes with a large-sized battery. It has a whopping 7000 mAh rated capacity, which will let you go through the whole day and have some juice left. And as the battery supports 22.5W fast charging, you should be able to get it charged up pretty quickly when it hits 0%.

Other Features and Expected Price

The Huawei Nova Y91 appears to be focusing greatly on the content-watching experience. It comes with a dual stereo speaker system that aims to bring out all the details from the soundtrack. Huawei states that an ultra-high volume feature cranks up the sound to 300%. It should heighten the thrill of your favorite games and films.

Huawei Nova Y91 Sound

Likewise, you can even lower the sound to 0.5x than the other Huawei phones. Although, I don’t really see a natural use case for this feature. But it may come in handy when you don’t want to completely mute the phone.

Moreover, the Nova Y91 comes with a security center and privacy center. The latter will let you get a quick glimpse of all the apps that have access to your personal data. On the other hand, the security center automatically scans the phone and alerts you when it detects any viruses or suspicious apps.

Huawei Nova Y91 Colors

That said, as of now, Huawei did not officially unveil the pricing information of the Nova Y91. But the expected price is around $289, which makes sense as it has a mid-range chipset. Nonetheless, Huawei did confirm the color options. The phone will be available in Moonlight Silver and Starry Black. For a mid-range device, both options look very eye-catching.
