Mobvoi, the company behind the popular line of TicWatch smartwatches, recently launched its latest watch, the TicWatch Pro 5. It runs on Google’s Wear OS 3 software and is powered by the new Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chip. Apparently, the TicWatch Pro 5 is the world’s first smartwatch with Qualcomm’s newer SoC. Let’s learn more about the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 in this story.
Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 Overview
The TicWatch 5 Pro features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a unique dual-layer screen setup. As implied by the name, the dual-layer screen setup means the watch has two screens stacked on top of each other. It has a low-power LCD display sitting over the top of a standard OLED panel. Thanks to this feature, Mobvoi says the TicWatch Pro 5 can make it a full 80 hours between top-ups.
Moreover, the watch is made of 7000 series aluminum and high-strength nylon with fiberglass for added toughness. As a result, the wearable has secured a US military-grade (MIL-STD 810H) rating. That means it can withstand a variety of environmental stresses including rain, sand, ice, shock, and vibration. Along with that, the watch is 5 ATM water resistant and has Corning Gorilla Anti-fingerprint Cover Glass on the front.
Health and fitness features
Since this is a “Pro” smartwatch, it has all the essential health tracking and fitness. It can track 100+ workout types, give you a VO2 Max score, and give you a one-tap measurement of several health metrics.
It also provides advanced sleep tracking (awake, REM, light and deep sleep stages, skin temperature, SpO2, and more), 24-hour heart rate monitoring, and a barometer, altimeter, compass, and GPS to help you explore the great outdoors.
Gizchina News of the week
All these features are powered by Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip. The TicWatch Pro 5 is the first smartwatch to take leverage of this 4nm chip. It is expected to dramatically improve power efficiency, connectivity, and performance. Another first for the TichWatch Pro 5 is the rotating crown bezel with haptic feedback. The crown will let you navigate through apps, adjust volume, zoom in and out on Maps, and more.
As for the memory, it has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Likewise, the TicWatch Pro 5 boots on the latest version of WearOS, WearOS 3.5. Of course, with Wear OS 3, you’ll have access to many of the latest apps and features available to the platform. And since it is fitted with a speaker and microphone, one can make and take calls directly from the watch.
Battery and Connectivity
Furthermore, the TicWatch Pro 5 has a large 628mAh battery. With this, the Watch is said to offer up to 80 hours of battery life in Smart Mode and 45 days in Essential Mode. For those unaware, Smart Mode is the actual smartwatch where the watch connects to your phone, gives you updates, and all that fun stuff.
On the other hand, Essential Mode is the simple “watch only” mode where you get extended battery life, but there are no smart features. It also supports fast charging, which can provide a 65% charge in just 30 minutes.
The connectivity options of the TicWatch Pro 5 include Bluetooth 5.2, and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. You can pair it with your smartphone via the Mobvoi Health app. Users can also use the TimeShow app to select from over 1000+ watch faces.
