As the FIFA 23 season winds down, EA Sports has increased the price of FIFA Points. This has come as a surprise to many players, who logged into FIFA 23 Ultimate Team today to find that the prices of FIFA Points had increased overnight. The new prices went into effect on June 1. EA Sports did announce the price increase via a blog post. But it was not widely shared on social media and many players were unaware of it. So it definitely came as a surprise for many.
Fifa Points Price Increase in Fifa 23
FIFA Points are the in-game currency for FIFA Ultimate Team, a popular mode in the FIFA video game series. Players can use FIFA Points to purchase packs of players, which can be used to build their Ultimate Team squads.
However, FIFA Points are considered costly by many players. For example, the price of 1200 FIFA Points is already a hefty £79.99 / $99.99 / AU$ 120. And with the change going into effect from June 1, players will be paying an extra £8 in the United Kingdom and an extra AU$30.95 in Australia. The US price increase doesn’t seem to be in effect at the time of writing.
Why Did EA Sports Increase the Cost of FIFA Points?
The company says the price increase is necessary to balance prices across different regions and currencies. In some regions, the price of FIFA Points has increased, while in others it has decreased. EA Sports says the price changes are due to “significant changes in currency valuation.”
Fifa Community Unhappy With The Price Increase
FIFA 23 players are not happy about the price increase for FIFA Points. The price of 12,000 FIFA Points has gone from £79.99 to £87.99. Content creator AJ3 was the first to notice the change, and many players are upset about it. One Twitter user even called the price increase “disgusting.”

Gizchina News of the week
Some players believe that the price of FIFA Points should be lowered, as the value of the points decreases over time.
Crazy, the price of fifa points should reduce as the new game gets closer, as the year goes on the less value and the market falls to pieces meaning mass losses, also come September it all means nothing, would be different if you didn’t just have to start again every year.

Not only did the largest pack experience a surge in price, but most bundles will also require players to spend additional money.

The Price Increase is Australia The Most
The price of FIFA Points has increased in different regions, with Australia seeing the biggest increases. In Australia, the price of 12,000 FIFA Points for PlayStation has been increased by AU$30, from AU$120 to AU$150. Likewise, in New Zealand, the price of the most points bundle has increased by NZ$12.
It doesn’t Affect XBOX
While the price of FIFA Points has increased for PlayStation and PC players, it remains unchanged for Xbox players.
Holy shit.

This is surprising, as it is not clear why EA Sports would choose to treat these two groups of players differently. The price increase on PC was implemented one week before it was implemented on PlayStation. It is possible that Xbox players will also see a price hike in the future, as it would be unfair to keep prices lower for one group of players while raising them for others.
