Yesterday, news broke out in Poland suggesting that Vivo’s local arm was considering an exit from the country. Now, GSMOnline.pl has confirmed the news. The source got a confirmation from Vivo, which basically confirms that due to strategic reasons, the company’s official distributor is leaving the country. Despite this, local customer support will remain alive.
Vivo confirmed to leave Poland
“Continuous market analysis and selection of the appropriate business strategy in consultation with local representatives is crucial for the vivo brand. We regret to inform you that the authorized distributor of the brand in Poland has decided to stop operating. Despite this, our customers can still rely on vivo’s robust products, comprehensive customer support and uninterrupted software updates.” – Vivo
Other local publications like Telepolis. pl also got the same info from Vivo. So if you live in Poland and are an enthusiast of Vivo’s phones, it’s better to be ready for some changes. For now, the brand’s arm in Poland is still running with retailers selling phones. We believe in a gradual exit process. In any case, we shouldn’t expect future smartphones to reach the country.
Gizchina News of the week
Oppo, from the same BBK Electronics Group, states it won’t leave Poland anytime soon
Don’t worry as this move does not seem to be a strategy taken by other brands in the BBK group. In a preemptive move, Oppo decided to send a statement to GSMOnline.pl. It basically says that the brand is “not going anywhere”. Moreover, Oppo will launch the Oppo Reno 10 series in Poland this July.
“We strongly deny rumors about leaving Poland. The country is a very important market for us and we already have launches scheduled for the end of the year. In July, we will present the Reno 10 series and in the following months IoT devices, including the new OPPO Air3 Pro headphones, and we will expand the ecosystem portfolio.” – Oppo
Oppo’s response is not a coincidence. After all, both brands closed their website in Germany some time ago. Vivo’s Netherlands branch is also offline as well, although Oppo still lives. Despite reports of trouble, the French website for both brands is still up and running. The brand’s fans in Poland probably had their reasons to be concerned, but now the firm is clarifying the facts.
These two brands are definitively reconsidering some of their strategies for the European markets. We will keep following up to see if more countries will be affected in the near future. This is heart-breaking news for Polish customers that were waiting to see new exciting phones from Vivo like the Vivo X Flip and the future V29 series. From now on, they will have to really on importing or simply switch to another brand.
