Motorola stands firm as one of the leaders in the U.S smartphone market. The company is currently competing against the top manufacturers in both flagship and entry-level smartphones in the United States. Recently, the Lenovo-owned company launched a new flip smartphone which is the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra.
The Clamshell Android smartphone from Motorola went on sale immediately in the UK and Europe. While we await June 16 for the pre-order of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra to begin in the US, sales is already ongoing in China.
According to GsmArena, many Chinese consumers were interested in the smartphone. As a result, the phone was sold out on the first open sales day. The official Weibo account of Motorola China confirmed that all 10,000 pieces of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra were sold out. The Razr 40 Ultra was sold out on all online platforms for both Motorola and Lenovo. Third-party stores such as JD.com and Tmall also ran out of stock. All these happened on the same day the company opened sales.
Notable Features of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra
Since the day of announcement, the flip phone has received a lot of positive reviews. The device featured some great improvements over its predecessor, the Motorola Razr 2022. A notable example of such improvements is its outer screen which measures 3.6″ over the 2.7″ on the Razr 2022. This screen size also sits on top as the clamshell smartphone with the largest outer display. It beats the likes of Samsung, Huawei, Oppo etc. in this category.

Aside the redesigned hinge and the more polished look, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra also features some great specifications. For example, the screen on the Razr 40 Ultra measures 6.9″ with better resolution of 1080 x 2640 pixels. Also, the 120Hz refresh rate display looks sharper with 413ppi pixel density. Even though charging speed remains 30W in this model, there is a slight increase in battery size from 3,500mAh to 3,800mAh.
Downsides of the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra
As sleek and premium as it may look, the foldable smartphone from Motorola has a few areas that the company could have improved. The first downside of this device is its camera system. Similar to its predecessor, the Razr 40 Ultra also comes with a dual camera setup. However, the company decided to downgrade the camera technology rather than upgrading it. The previous version featured a 50MP main camera whereas the latest model features a 12MP main sensor.
The second camera which is the ultrawide lens remains 13MP. However, the company also downgraded the angle view from 120 degrees to 108 degrees. It is also worth noting that the 8K video capabilities of the Motorola Razr 2022 is dropped to 4K in this latest model.
