In my opinion, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is the most versatile smartphone camera for the money. I was amazed by looking at the camera samples that Xiaomi shared before the launch. And it’s not just me. Many credible and trustworthy reviewers share the same story.
However, DXOMARK, a platform that professionally tests and ranks smartphone cameras, appears not to be impressed by the phone. It ranked the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in 14th place. And by looking at the rankings alone, it’s quite surprising to see the Xiaomi 11 Ultra ranking higher than the latest camera-focused smartphone from Xiaomi.
That phone came out in March 2021. But yes, the ranking does not really tell you everything. To get a clear picture, you must check out everything DXOMARK has said about the 13 Ultra.
Analyzing DXOMARK’s Score and Comments on Xiaomi 13 Ultra
The ranking of DXOMARK is based on a scoring system. As you will see in the picture below, DXO has given the Xiaomi 13 Ultra even 140 points in the camera department. In comparison, the Xiaomi 11 Ultra gets a score of 141 points, which makes it rank 11 in DXOMARK’s tests.
Gizchina News of the week
Now, if you take a closer look, you will see that the main factor where Xiaomi 13 Ultra got fewer points is in terms of Bokeh. It got 65 points, whereas the Xiaomi 11 Ultra scored 75 in that department. As far as I can see, this point has made the latest flagship from Xiaomi get a lower score than anticipated.
Nevertheless, some may argue that ranking the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in 14th place is too low. However, if you check out the entire report, you will find more praise than criticism. The report says that the phone offers “Very consistent image quality on all the zoom range.” It also adds that the device can deliver a “Pleasant and neutral white balance in photo and video.” For the full report, click here.
