After years of rumors, Apple finally set the world in a storm with the release of its Apple Vision Pro. The Mixed Reality Headset set to “change it all” has been announced with promising features. However, it is still not meant for the general public, and the $3,499 price tells us that alone. The costlier product is meant for developers that will help Apple to build an ecosystem in the platform. However, Apple already has plans for a product that will be more interesting (read cheaper) for mass adoption.
Apple Vision or Apple Vision One coming to the general public in 2025
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is already planning a more affordable version of the Vision Pro. The new device will likely arrive sometime in 2025. Gurman further states that Apple was initially thinking of delaying the announcement of the Vision Pro. According to Gurman, the high price means negative publicity for the product. Instead of a delay, the company went the route of giving people 9 months to get used to the price.
Gizchina News of the week
Gurman states that the new “affordable model” will sport the Apple Vision or Vision One naming scheme. It will head to the general public, and Apple expects mass adoption. The price of the product is not hinted at here, but in a certain way, Apple will do “the best” to cut that down. The new headset could use lower-tier screens, a less powerful chip, less capable cameras, or perhaps require the AirPods for the spatial audio feature. On the other hand, Apple will assure key features such as the external EyeSight screen and hand-tracking system.
We are still far from the release of such a model. As previously mentioned, the product is aiming for a 2025 release. The new model won’t come alone, as Apple is expected to launch a second generation of the Pro in the same year. The release of a vanilla Apple Vision and a Vision Pro would mean Apple will stick with the dual product release scheme. There is still a full year to go until that probable release, we expect more details. Apple has plenty of time to convince users that the Vision Pro is really a revolution.
This segment should also become more competitive in the future. With the entrance of other companies, Apple will have to prove itself.
