Honor launched the Honor 90 and 90 Pro devices last month. But those two were not the only devices Honor had in mind for its 90 series of smartphones. It has just launched the third member of the lineup, the Honor 90 Lite. And as the name suggests, the new smartphone targets budget-centric consumers.
That automatically means that the Honor 90 Lite has toned-down specs. But the good news is that Honor did not tone things down too much. As a mid-range device, the phone has great specs. And if Honor prices it right, it could be a better pick than most of the mid-range devices that are in the market.
In-Depth Look at the Specs of Honor 90 Lite
From the official announcement, it’s clear that Honor wants to offer a smooth overall experience with the Honor 90 Lite. You will find a 6.7-inch LTPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate on the front of the device. While the screen does not have the fastest refresh rate, 90Hz is more than enough for a fluid experience with the UI.
Under the hood, the 90 Lite packs a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset. It is one of the latest mid-range SoC from MediaTek, which can offer decent performance in most of the apps. To compare, it scores 401K in AnTuTu, while the competing SoC, the Snapdragon 695, scores 373K.
But in my opinion, the camera is the main highlight of the Honor 90 Lite. On the back, the phone has a triple camera setup. Among them, there’s a 100MP sensor that promises to capture ultra-clear pictures. In addition, there’s a 5MP ultra-wide and 2MP depth sensor on the back.
And on the front, 90 Lite comes with a 16MP selfie shooter, which Honor has housed in a center hole punch of the display.
The Screen of Honor 90 Lite
While the Honor 90 Lite is a mid-range device, its screen will tell you otherwise. At least, I find the screen of the device pretty impressive. The 6.7-inch panel that Honor has used is virtually borderless. Its bezels are slim, which should offer an immersive experience.
Gizchina News of the week
To be exact, the device’s screen-to-body ratio is 93.6%, which is very respectable for a mid-range device. And to make sure that users get the best possible experience, Honor has color-calibrated the panel.
There are other display features packed in the Honor 90 Lite. For example, you have dynamic dimming technology, which dynamically changes the display brightness to ensure your eyes are not fatigued. Also, there’s an enhanced nighttime mode, which aims to improve your sleep quality.
Software and Other Specs
The 90 Lite debuted with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The 8GB of RAM might not seem too appealing, but it’s good enough for day-to-day apps and games. And the 256GB of onboard storage should offer plenty of space for large-sized files and photos.
In terms of software, Honor launched the 90 Lite with Android 13, which is topped by MagicOS 7.1. The MagicOS 7.1 comes with a lot of improvements, which aim to make the user experience smoother than the last software version. And it is loaded with customizability features as well.
A respectable 4500mAh battery powers the internals of the Honor 90 Lite. It has 22.5W fast-charging support, letting you juice up the battery quickly when it reaches 0%.
That said, you can pick up the device in three colors: Midnight Black, Cyan Lake, and Titanium Silver. At the time of writing, Honor is yet to announce the pricing and availability of the 90 Lite. But we will get you updated when Honor shares more details.
