Truecaller Call Recording Feature Is Making a Comeback

TrueCaller voice AI

If you have used Truecaller, you can not deny that it is one of the quintessential apps for your phone. Available for Android and iOS, the app allows you to check the caller’s identity right when the call comes through. Today, the company announced that the much-liked Truecaller call recording feature is returning to the app.

Wondering why is the Truecaller call recording feature so important? Both Android and iOS operating systems have countermeasures that prevent users from recording calls. However, the Truecaller app has managed to get through the countermeasures by utilizing a dedicated recording line. So, with the app, keeping evidence of important calls will now be easy.

How You Can Use the Truecaller Call Recording Feature On Your Phone

Even though the feature will be available on both iOS and Android versions of the app, the process of using it is a little different. If you are on Android, things will be pretty straightforward. All you need to do is use the Truecaller’s dialer to record a call.

The call recording feature also works when you are on a different dialer. In that case, you have to tap on the Truecaller floating window to activate the recording. Even so, the process is pretty simple for Android.

On iOS, things are a little bit complicated. You will need to call a recording line through the Truecaller app. Afterward, you have to merge the calls. Here, you should note that the person whose call is being recorded with the Truecaller call recording feature will hear a beep. This will indicate that the call is being recorded.

The beep is a nifty feature too. It’s not just for the call you are recording; you can even be aware of whether you are being recorded with this beep. This will eventually prevent the malicious use of the call-recording feature.

Other New Features of Truecaller

The call recording feature is not the only thing that Truecaller is bringing with the update. It is also introducing transcripts, which will roll out to the users in the coming weeks. The interesting fact about the transcripts is that it supports the search, allowing you to easily access the transcribed calls.

Moreover, the transcripts will be stored locally on your phone. That means Truecaller will not have access to any of the recorded data. It’s good to see that the company is focusing on user privacy with these features.

How Can You Get the New Features

So, the Truecaller call recording and transcript feature is not for every user. It will be coming only to the premium members. At the moment, the company offers three different tiers for its premium membership. The first one is a basic ad-free plan, which costs $1 per month.

Secondly, there’s the premium plan with the call recording feature. That will cost you $3.99 per month. This plan also offers daily spam protection, live caller ID, incognito mode, and more.

The final tier comes with a call screening assistant, which Truecaller offers at $4.49 per month. With this, you get all the features of the previous plans plus the assistant and voicemail features. It also allows you to set custom greetings.

Wondering what the screening assistant does? It basically adds a layer of spam protection. Truecaller Assistant can answer your call and ask questions for you. That will eventually help you to dictate whether the call is worth answering. You can learn more about the feature here.
