Xiaomi recently introduced the Redmi Note 12R Pro and now is gearing up to bring a vanilla option. The Pro variant arrived in April with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and a $250 price tag. Now, the company is preparing a vanilla variant, that surprisingly, seems to be better than the Pro variant. This is not common, but it seems that the Redmi Note 12R could be the first smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which obviously brings upgrades over the first generation.
Redmi Note 12R specifications
According to the leaks, the Redmi Note 12R will pack the SM4450 chipset which is expected to arrive as “Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2”. Qualcomm is yet to announce this chipset. Hence, we need to digest this news with a pinch of salt. The vanilla Redmi Note 12R was spotted on the China Telecom website with the 2307RA4BC model number. Going back to the chipset, it will boast Samsung’s 4nm node which is already a big upgrade over the 6nm on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. In addition, the phone will pack up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Internal Storage. Unlike other devices in the family, this one would bring a micro SD card slot for further storage expansion.
