The team then surveyed the interest of players without revealing to them that the game was generated by AI.

As mentioned before, this game was entirely created using AI. First, they used ChatGPT to generate the concept of the game and its description. Next, they turned to Midjourney to help generate the images. The end result came out with a word game that they titled “Word Reef”.

Hence, they asked those who participated in the survey to share their opinions on the game and how it compares to other similar games like Wordle. The catch is that none of the participants were told that Word Reef was generated by AI.

According to the survey, an overwhelming majority of participants (82%) expressed their interest in downloading the game called Word Reef. Interestingly, they were more inclined to believe that the game was developed by renowned game developers such as Big Fish Games (40%) or Zynga (19%), rather than being a product of AI (13%). 
What’s even more remarkable is that respondents indicated a willingness to pay an average of $3 to download Word Reef, despite the availability of numerous free word games in the market. Recognizing that word games are more enjoyable with friends, it comes as no surprise that over two-thirds of the participants (67%) stated that they would recommend Word Reef to their friends. This highlights the game’s potential to garner positive word-of-mouth and attract a wider player base.
Word Reef is More Enjoyable, Educational and Immersive

According to players who played Word Reef, it surpasses Wordle in terms of fun, education and immersion. Respondents seems to have found Word Reef to be more enjoyable than Wordle despite the popularity of Wordle. They all found Word Reef to be equally addictive just like Wordle.
