Press Images of Nothing Phone (2) and New Nothing Ear (2) Color Are Here – More Specs Revealed

Just a day before, we had our first look at the design of the Nothing Phone (2). And although the source was a well-known YouTuber, MKBHD, the video did give us a closer look at the device. Well, If you’ve been eagerly anticipating a closer look at Nothing’s upcoming flagship, there’s a piece of good news for you.

The press images of Nothing Phone (2) are finally here. They reveal the new smartphone in all its glory. Additionally, official images of the new color option for the Nothing Ear (2), the successor of flagship wireless earbuds Ear (1), are here too. Nothing will likely reveal the new version of the buds alongside the phone in the launch event scheduled on July 11th.

A Closer Look at Nothing Phone (2)

As shown in the video by MKBHD, the Nothing Phone (2) will offer some minor visual updates. Most of the update is focused on the Glyph Interface on the back, which is basically a LED design that’s signature for Nothing. The updated Glyph Interface brings 11 segmented LED strips with a total of 33 lighting zones.

The Nothing Phone (1) from last year utilized 5 LED strips with 12 different zones. This higher LED strip count makes the LED effects work more smoothly. It also brings some extra features, such as the right portion of the middle LED strips acting like a status indicator for certain apps.

Beyond that, Nothing Phone (2) will enable customization on the LED strips for notifications. You can also customize the LED effects on your own with the Glyph Composer. And as there are more LED strips than before, the new phone’s customized effects for calls will seem more fluid.

The new press images confirm a new color option for the Nothing Phone (2). It’s the black option, which appears to be slightly more on the greyer side than the darker Phone (1) color.

Besides, the Phone (2) is slightly larger and rounder than the Phone (1). Thanks to the round nature of the design, it will be comfortable to hold onto the device even though it is larger than the predecessor. Also, the front of the device now has a selfie camera in the middle instead of the left-side placement found in the Phone (1).

More Specs of the Phone Revealed

So far, we have known quite a number of specs of Nothing Phone (2). Most of them came from the CEO, Carl Pei, and Nothing’s official Twitter account. If you missed them, they include Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a larger battery than Phone (1), and a better camera system.

On the note of the camera system, we were yet to get information on which sensors the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) will utilize. Well, details regarding them have been unveiled.

According to Kamila, the primary sensor of the Phone (2) is Sony IMX890. It is a 50MP sensor with OIS and in-sensor zoom. And if the name of the sensor seems familiar to you, it’s the same camera found in OnePlus 11.

Besides, the Phone (2) has a Samsung JN1 as a secondary camera on the back. It’s the same ultra-wide sensor found in the Phone (1). And it comes with EIS instead of OIS. But the performance should be better because Carl Pei confirmed a revamped image processing.

On the front, Nothing Phone (2) utilizes a Sony IMX615 sensor. This is a 32MP sensor that features EIS. And as per the images revealed by Carl Pei and other testers of the upcoming device, the selfie camera can take reasonably good pictures.

When it comes to the Display, Kamila says that the Phone (2) utilizes an AMOLED panel from Visionox. This panel is 1080×2412 in terms of resolution and has support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has variable refresh rate support, ranging from 1Hz to 30Hz. This feature saves battery and keeps the phone in low power mode.

First Exposure of the New Nothing Ear (2)

Along with the Nothing Phone (2), we just got information regarding the new version of the Nothing Ear (2). In case you didn’t know, Nothing officially unveiled the Ear (2) back in March of this year. However, the buds came in only one color option. Nothing Ear (1) came in both white and black.

Well, it seems Nothing was reserving the black color option for the launch event of Nothing Phone (2). After all, those who are getting the black option of the phone would love to get a black color option for the buds too.

Nonetheless, as the images show, the new color option of Ear (2) has a matt-gloss type finish on the buds. And on the charging case, Nothing has stuck with the same color coating. This gives a unified look and makes the earbuds look better in the case.

However, as per as I can tell, the color coating does not really match the new color of the Phone (2). Still, we will need to wait to till the official event before coming to that conclusion.
