Apple Music and Apple TV+ are becoming important to Apple and its users. According to a recent analysis by CIRP, the usage habits of these two platforms differ between age groups. Younger people use Apple Music more, while older users prefer Apple TV+.
Apple generated a staggering $20.91 billion in revenue from its Services segment in the second quarter of 2023. This is another significant milestone for the company. Apple doesn’t break out its revenue by service. But according to CIRP, Apple Music and Apple TV+ are among the two favorite services.
CIRP conducted a survey to determine the adoption rates of Apple Music and Apple TV+ across six age groups. Both services are more expensive than other Apple services.
Gizchina News of the week
More than 40% of Apple consumers across all age groups use Apple Music, according to CIRP analysis. However, less than a third of customers use Apple TV+.
So younger Apple customers are more likely to use Apple Music than their older counterparts.
There is a concert reason why older users prefer Apple TV+
Although the 55-64 age group uses both services almost equally, there is a notable difference in the 65+ age group, where Apple TV+ adoption is twice that of Apple Music listeners.
According to CIRP, the increased adoption of Apple Music by the 18-44 age group can be attributed to their digital savvy and demand for a seamless music solution. In addition, compared to older consumers, this demographic is more likely to enjoy the service because they grew up listening to digital music.
As the CIRP report reads, Apple TV+ usage is more widespread across all age groups. This may be because users typically subscribe to multiple video streaming providers, unlike music streaming.
Understanding different age groups’ preferences and usage patterns is essential for strategic decision-making and service development, as Apple’s services continue to be a key factor in the company’s success.
