Opinion: Here’s How Samsung Galaxy Flagship Phones Can Offer Much Better Experience

Galaxy S23

It goes without saying that Samsung makes some of the most versatile flagship phones. The Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Z phones come with reliable cameras, top-notch screens, extremely tuned software, and long-term support. These crucial elements make Samsung flagship phones worth purchasing.

Despite these features, the South Korean firm still has room to improve. For example, if you take a closer look, Samsung Galaxy phones did not see that much hardware upgrade over the past few years. In fact, the Galaxy flagship devices are currently lagging behind many Chinese rivals and even Apple in some of the factors.

Curious about how Samsung can surpass its competitors? Here are the improvements that we think the future Samsung Galaxy flagships should come with.

Higher-resolution Telephoto and Ultrawide Cameras

With the latest Galaxy S series, Samsung has upgraded the primary camera to a 200MP sensor. This camera sensor allowed the latest flagships to gain leads on the last-gen flagships. However, the ultrawide camera resolution is the same as before, which is 12MP. To be exact, Samsung has been using the same ultrawide sensor since the Galaxy S20 lineup.

The situation is similar for the telephoto sensor. Samsung introduced a telephoto lens with the Galaxy S21 series, which was more than two years ago. And we see the same two year plus old 10MP telephoto sensor on the latest flagships. In comparison, Chinese firms have started utilizing much higher-res telephoto sensors.

Galaxy S23 Ultra

For example, you can get 50MP telephoto lens on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. There are others that come with a 64MP telephoto sensor too. But do the Samsung Galaxy flagships need higher-res sensors? Yes, as bigger and better camera resolutions can make the phones extract more details from the ultrawide and telephoto sensors.

Of course, you can argue that Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is one of the best zoom cameras out there. But the case is not the same for the other models of the series. That’s exactly where it has been losing its edge. So, it would be a good idea for Samsung to upgrade the ultrawide and telephoto to 48MP or better in the next series.

Fixing the Motion Blur Issues Present in Samsung Galaxy Flagships

For a good amount of time, Samsung Galaxy flagships have been notorious for capturing blurred images. The issue is very visible when you try capturing moving subjects, such as your pets or kids. And it gets worse when you are in low-light or indoor conditions.

The issue is mainly because Samsung keeps the camera’s shutter open for too long. Yes, that helps to reduce the noise and utilize multi-frame capture. Samsung has also offered an option to mitigate the motion blur issue with its Camera Assistant app. But the issue is not entirely solved.

Even today, you will see many reports about the Samsung Galaxy flagships capturing blurred photos on the official Samsung support page. And for flagship devices, Samsung Galaxy devices should not offer such a bad camera experience. So, the South Koren company should work on its next devices’ shutter time.

Fast Wired Charging and Good Wireless Charging Speed

After Samsung faced a major backlash with the Galaxy Note 7 series, it seems to be treading very carefully in terms of the battery department. For the last couple of series, Samsung Galaxy flagship phones have been coming with 45W fast charging support. And the other phones of the Galaxy lineup are still stuck with 25W wired charging.

Samsung Charging

Competitors shifted to 65W and higher a long time ago. As a matter of fact, 100W and higher is now a common theme. This higher charging speed offers you the peace of mind that you can get the battery juiced up quickly when it drains out. And if you have a fast charger, you can definitely take proper advantage of this feature.

For that reason, to improve the phone experience with the next Galaxy flagship series, Samsung should bring at least 65W wired charging. For the other phones, Samsung should work on bringing at least 45W fast charging. Also, it should make some improvements on the wireless charging speed as many uses wireless chargers these days.

Better Thermals on the Samsung Galaxy Flagships

There’s no denying that the Samsung Galaxy flagship phones have the best possible processor in Android phones. However, due to not having robust thermals, these devices struggle to get the best out of the high-end processor. In other words, the performance does not remain consistent in high loads.

Galaxy S23 Ultra Gaming

This basically boils down to inadequate heat dissipation and less advanced cooling systems inside the Samsung Galaxy phones. And while Samsung has improved it with the Galaxy S23 series, there’s a lot of room for improvement.

Also, it should be noted that better thermal systems in phones can also lead to improved battery life. So, if Samsung improves the cooling system with the future flagship devices, it can hit two birds with one stone.

Reliable Displays

Yes, Samsung Galaxy devices come with extremely good screens. But Samsung devices are notorious for the green/pink line issues on the displays. These generally appear when you use the phone for over a year. And it is not leaving a good impression on the flagship devices. Samsung should work on this for their next devices and make their phones offer a better experience in the long run.
