Love it or hate it, Artificial Intelligence is here to stay and revolutionize various tasks. Artificial Intelligence now helps many professionals handle their daily activities more quickly than usual. From photo editing, video editing, word documents, medical support to the tech world as a whole.
Due to its high level of influence, almost all big tech giants have shown interest in building their own AI software. Industry leaders such as Microsoft and Google have already initiated major advancements. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has, a few years back, shown interest in the AI industry. However, it was only a matter of time before Musk ventured into this rapidly expanding sector. From all indications, it seems that now is the right time. Elon Musk has already started his own AI firm called xAI.
On July 16th, 2023, the SpaceX CEO officially launched xAI with the intention of understanding the true nature of the universe. On the company’s official website, it starts the introduction with a quote:
The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe. We will share more information over the next couple of weeks and months.
xAI will Collaborate with Tesla and Twitter
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that his new startup, xAI, intends to work together with the automaker. It will work on both the “silicon front” and the “AI software front.”
Gizchina News of the week
During a recent Twitter Spaces audio session, Elon Musk mentioned that his startup, xAI, plans to use Twitter data to train highly curious artificial intelligence systems and develop products. However, he didn’t clarify whether X Corp. would charge for access to Twitter’s APIs.
Musk also claimed, without verification, that AI developers worldwide have used Twitter data for training purposes. He further stated that this was done “illegally” by some companies. Nevertheless, he did not specify which laws they might have broken.
He explained that Twitter’s dataset is useful for training text and graphical models, but AI systems require more than just human-generated data. Musk hopes xAI can follow a similar approach to DeepMind, an Alphabet-owned company known for using reinforcement learning.
xAI be Controversial in Its Answers – Elon Musk
Notably, Musk mentioned that xAI’s language model won’t adhere to being “politically correct.” He expressed that the AI might provide controversial answers, even if they are objectively correct. This statement reflects his stance against progressive values.
To achieve its goals, xAI aims to develop technology that understands the physical world beyond just the Internet. Musk believes that Tesla’s driving data will be valuable in accomplishing this aspect of its work.
