Huawei has confirmed through a Weibo post that it will officially announce HarmonyOS 4.0 in August. The post includes an image of ArkTS code. This indicates that the announcement will be related to “What to expect in August,” along with a prominent “4.” The “4” in the code suggests the release will happen during the annual HDC (Huawei Developers Conference) in the coming month. 
HarmonyOS 4 Release Date was Teased Earlier
Earlier teasers have already hinted at the release date and version of HarmonyOS 4.0 being on August 4th. These hints align with the date and version number, adding more credibility to the upcoming announcement.
HarmonyOS is Huawei’s proprietary operating system. The Chinese tech firm designed it to be the core of their ecosystem with smartphones at its center. As per earlier teasers this month, the upcoming version, HarmonyOS 4.0, aims to enhance interoperability within the 1+8+N environment. This means it will work to improve the seamless connectivity and integration between various devices (1+8) and the broader ecosystem (N). It aims to provide users with a more cohesive and interconnected experience.

HarmonyOS 4 Beta is Already Out 
The operating system, HarmonyOS, is currently in beta testing, and some users have already shared their initial impressions under the teaser. The testing is primarily focused on phones from the P60, Mate50, and Mate 40 series. However, it’s important to note that the OS is currently limited to China, and we can assume that the official launch will also be aimed at domestic users in the Chinese market.
As of now, the HarmonyOS branding on smartphones remains limited to China. While certain features from HarmonyOS are likely to go global, Huawei has repeatedly confirmed that the name “EMUI” is expected to stay for international users. According to the company, they believe that users are not yet prepared for a complete switch to HarmonyOS. Therefore, they will continue using the EMUI branding for their international markets.
