Earlier this year, Sk Hynix, a South Korean memory chip manufacturer, announced that it would be releasing its cutting-edge DRAM. The manufacturer claimed that the DRAM would be the fastest in the market. And while many expected the technology to debut with a Snapdragon SoC, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 will be the first mobile chipset to get the support.
This news may not come as a surprise to some. After all, the South Korean OEM has utilized MediaTek’s chipset to test the DRAM modules. However, Sk Hynix did not explicitly mention the specific model of the chipset during the announcement. But the manufacturer did say that it is a “next-generation Dimensity flagship chipset.” And the only upcoming MediaTek flagship SoC is the Dimensity 9300.
What LPDDR5T Support Means for MediaTek Dimensity 9300
With the support of LPDDR5T, the Dimensity 9300 will deliver unrivaled memory bandwidth. According to Sk Hynix, it’s 9.6 Gbps, while, currently, Samsung’s LPDDR5X can offer 8.5 Gbps of data processing speeds. So, it goes without saying that the LPDDR5T RAM will be faster than LPDDR5X RAM.

But the thing is, not all phones with Dimensity 9300 SoC will utilize the LPDDR5T RAM. After all, the chipset is backward compatible with older-generation memory standards. And even though LPDDR5T brings a lot of improvements, it’s cheaper to get the LPDDR5X instead.
As the Dimensity 9300 will be the first chipset to gain LPDDR5T support, you may wonder whether it will have an advantage over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. At the current stage, not much official information about the chipsets exists.
Yes, we have Geekbench benchmark results for Dimensity 9300 and 8 Gen 3. But the Geekbench results don’t explicitly say whether the 9300 tests were with the LPDDR5T RAM. However, MediaTek plans to launch the chipset ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. So, you don’t need to wait long to better understand the chipset’s performance.
