OnePlus Ace 2 Pro Comes with a Splashy New Display Tech

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro is around the corner. It’s about to debut in the coming Wednesday. But before the official launch event, the brand posted many teasers. They showcase all the innovations OnePlus has made for the upcoming flagship. Among them all, the video posted by OnePlus’s President JieLouis is the main highlight.

This video showcases how much of an innovation OnePlus has made in terms of the display tech of Ace 2 Pro. Particularly, the display prioritizes user experience over everything. Wondering what’s so great about it? According to JieLouis, the phone comes with something called “Rainwater Touch.”

As you might have guessed, this tech allows the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro to accurately register a touch when your hands are wet. And most importantly, it makes sure that the display has full touch functionality even when there’s water on it.

More About the Rainwater Touch of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro

The video posted by JieLouis shows the Ace 2 Pro being tested next to the iPhone 14 Pro. In the test setup, OnePlus simulated a rain storm in which water jets shoot at the devices. As you can see from the video I’ve embedded below, the Ace 2 Pro could register the touches even when the jets are shooting water at it.

More importantly, the user operating the device has their hand drenched with water too. It’s a pretty challenging scenario for smartphones as water can reduce the ability of the displays to register touches. But the Ace 2 Pro passed the test with flying colors.

To be exact, the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro could register touches like there’s nothing wrong. But the iPhone 14 Pro, on the other hand, fails to even register the password input from the lock screen. The Ace 2 Pro also has an advanced ultrasonic sensor, which should offer a reliable unlocking experience. Also, this video confirms that the device will have a robust water resistance rating, allowing you to use the phone in the rain without any worries.
