Last Tuesday, Apple released the iPhone 15 series at the Wonderlust event. While Apple went through most of the crucial specs of each device at the event, the battery capacity information was left out. All Apple did was compare the run time with the predecessors, which offered a relatively vague idea about the battery life of the devices.
But this isn’t the first time Apple has done this. In fact, Apple has always been notorious for revealing details about the actual battery capacities of its devices in the spec sheet. You would generally need to wait for the devices to get into the hands of users to know the actual battery info. The case is pretty much the same for the iPhone 15 series.
However, the battery information comes from China’s regulators for the new iPhones. These regulators certify the new models, which gives them the green signal to be sold in the country. And from the certifications, we now know the exact battery capacities of the Apple iPhone 15 devices.
iPhone 15 vs iPhone 14: Battery Capacity Comparison
According to the certifications, the base iPhone 15 model has a 3,349 mAh cell, while the 15 Plus gets a 4,325 mAh cell. Among the Pro models, the 15 Pro features a 3,274 mAh cell, while the 15 Pro Max comes with a very large-sized 4,422 mAh cell.

In comparison, the regular iPhone 14 came with a 3,279 mAh battery, while the 14 Plus featured a 4,383 mAh cell. And for the Pro models, the 14 Pro came with a 3,200 mAh, while the 14 Pro Max featured a 4,323 mAh cell. So, all the new iPhone 15 models saw an increase in terms of battery capacity.
However, the battery capacity increase throughout the entire iPhone 15 series is not that significant. Only the 15 Pro Max saw a notable improvement, with around 100 mAh increase. Still, these increases should offer a slightly better battery life. We will do an in-depth comparison in this regard when Apple starts shipping the phones. So, stay tuned.
