Xiaomi is gearing up for a significant smartphone launch before the close of 2023, and they’ve already achieved an important certification milestone. The Chinese Compulsory Certification (CCC) has given its approval to a phone bearing the model number 23127PN0CC, strongly believed to be the vanilla Xiaomi 14. The standout feature of this device? Its support for blazing-fast 90W charging.

This means that the smartphone’s charger can deliver a power output ranging from 5-20V at 6.1-4.5A, offering a maximum charging speed of 90W. To take advantage of this impressive charging capability, you’ll need the Xiaomi MDY-14-EC charger. However, it remains unclear whether Xiaomi will include this high-powered adapter in the retail box.

Let’s take a brief trip back to early 2022 when Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 13. Interestingly, in international markets, this phone came bundled with its charger. However, in China, users faced a choice – they could opt to have the charger included or forego it since it wasn’t part of the standard package.

Gizchina News of the week

As for Xiaomi’s charging prowess, the 90W speed is a noteworthy upgrade, especially for the standard flagship model. To put this in perspective, the previous two iterations, the 13 and 12, offered 67W wired charging. While the 13 Pro and 12 Pro pushed the envelope with an impressive 120W charging rate.

The big question on everyone’s mind now is whether Xiaomi plans to further elevate the charging speed for the Xiaomi 14 Pro. We can only speculate for now, but it’s likely that more information will surface soon.

In summary, Xiaomi is poised to make waves with its upcoming Xiaomi 14 series, scheduled for release by the end of 2023. The vanilla model’s 90W charging support promises a faster and more convenient charging experience. Setting the stage for a highly anticipated smartphone launch. Stay tuned for updates on what the Pro version may bring in terms of charging technology.
