Last week, Oppo offered a sneak peek, but the weekend brought the official unveiling of their latest creation, the Oppo A2x. This new smartphone is designed with affordability in mind, featuring a Dimensity 6020 chipset and a single rear camera, all starting at a mere $150 (or its equivalent).

Oppo A2x: The Balance of Affordability and Functionality

The device boasts a 6.56-inch LCD screen, a panel that Oppo has consistently trusted for its A series for the past three years. This screen provides an HD+ resolution, a smooth 90 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 720 nits.

At the top of the screen, you’ll find a discreet waterdrop notch housing a 5 MP selfie camera. On the flip side, the A2x features a solitary 13 MP snapper with an f/2.2 aperture. Complemented by an LED flash.

Under the hood, the A2x houses a 7nm chipset, which can be paired with either 6 GB or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB. Plus, there’s a handy microSD slot on the left side for additional storage expansion. The right side includes the power key, which doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

The A2x is fueled by a robust 5,000 mAh battery, though specific charging speeds remain undisclosed. The smartphone accommodates two nano SIM cards and operates on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1. Additional noteworthy features include a 3.5 mm audio jack and an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Oppo A2x is available in three attractive colors: Black, Yellow, and Purple. The latter two color options feature a captivating texture on their backs. In terms of pricing, the 6/128 GB version costs CNY1,099 ($150/€142). While the 8/256 GB option costs CNY1,399 ($190/€180). Currently, the phone is exclusively available for purchase in China, and there are no official plans for an international release. So keep tuned for more details in this regard.
