As Mishaal Rahman explains, the Android repair mode utilizes the Dynamic System Updates mechanism. This lets the Android smartphones boot up into a Generic System Image (GSI). In other words, the mode will simulate a fresh instance of the OS, safeguarding your personal data.

Entering and exiting the Android repair mode will require your lock screen password. That means the technicians won’t be able to access your data even after the phone reboots.
