OnePlus Open, which is the brand’s first foldable phone, made its official debut yesterday. And in case you missed it, the device comes packed with features. Among all, one of the highlights is the displays. They feature class-leading brightness ratings. Well, that was just the beginning. Now, OnePlus and BOE want to unveil the next big display technology.
The Chinese manufacturer has just teased “a new dawn” for Chinese screens, which will be unveiled on October 24. This is when OnePlus, along with its parent company Oppo, will be unveiling a new display that’s manufactured by BOE.
All That We Know About the New BOE Display
The brand-new panel that OnePlus and BOE will introduce will be exceptionally bright. It will feature a 1440p resolution and will reach a peak brightness of 3000 NITS. There will be a 1220p panel too. It will feature an even higher peak brightness rating than the 1440p panel.
Gizchina News of the week
If you were to compare, the OnePlus Open featured a regular brightness rating of 1400 NITS, while the peak brightness rating is at 2800 NITS. And if you were wondering, the higher the brightness NITS rating, the easier it becomes to view the display under harsh lighting conditions.
Nonetheless, the new panel that OnePlus and BOE will introduce will also support 2160 Hz PWM dimming. The current panels, in comparison, support up to 1440Hz. For those wondering, a higher PWM dimming rating means that the display can smoothly control the brightness in different lighting conditions. The display will also feature Single Pulse DC.
That said, OnePlus and BOE will introduce the display on the same date as the announcement date of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This means that there’s a chance of us seeing the OnePlus 12 debuting with the new chipset and the new BOE display.
