Google Photos, a beloved service among macOS users who utilize “Stacks” for home screen organization, is soon introducing a new feature known as Photo Stack. This innovative addition aims to enhance file organization within its image backup and storage service across multiple platforms.
At first glance, this might appear as a minor update, but for users with extensive photo libraries, the Photo Stack feature promises to be incredibly valuable. Essentially, Photo Stack will enable users to group similar images together, offering a more streamlined approach to content organization.
A New Way to Organize Content in Google Photos
News of this development broke on the social network X (formerly Twitter), thanks to the vigilant programmer, AssembleDebug. This astute source detected the presence of a content organization feature in Google Photos’ version 59. The feature is slated to make its way to Android, iOS, and the web version of Photos.
Once Image Stacks become accessible within the service, Google Photos will automatically categorize similar photos. Users will also have the flexibility to enable or disable this content organization feature via a setting on the home screen.
Consequently, when a Photo Stack is created, users can further customize it by editing or changing the featured image. This new feature represents an exciting addition to one of Google‘s most highly regarded services.
