Oppo’s new A-series smartphone has been announced in the Chinese market. Called the Oppo A2, the newly unveiled device comes just two weeks after the brand debuted the Oppo A2X. And for those who missed it, Oppo also unveiled the A79 last week in India.
As you can expect from devices with such a close launch timeline, the Oppo A2 shares most of the key specs with the Oppo A79 2023. This ranges from the SoC, camera, display, and other features.
Main Highlights of the Oppo A2
On the front, the Oppo A2 has a 6.72-inch IPS LCD with an FHD+ resolution. It supports a 90 Hz refresh rate and features a punch-hole camera cutout on the top. This cutout houses an improved 8 MP front camera that can offer crisp and detailed selfies.

For the back, the Oppo A2 features a dual camera configuration. Among them, there’s the 50 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens. Under the hood, the smartphone features the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset. It’s a decent mid-range SoC that offers good overall performance for the money.
In terms of storage and RAM, the Oppo A2 is available with 12 GB of RAM and two storage options: 256 GB and 512 GB. So, it can handle most of the memory-hungry applications with ease. Software-wise, the smartphone boots ColorOS 13.1, which is based on Android 13. As for the battery, the device packs a 5000 mAh cell that supports 33-watt fast charging. It also has an IP54 rating.
The Oppo A2 is available in green, purple, and black. Regarding the pricing info, the model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is CNY1699, which is around US$232. The variant with 512 GB of storage is going for CNY1799, which is around US$246. Open sales for the device are scheduled for November 6 in the Chinese market.
