iQOO 12 Series Launches with Performance-focused Specs

iQOO 12 Series launch

The much-awaited iQOO 12 series has arrived. This lineup consists of the regular version and the 12 Pro. Both come with flagship specs, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

In addition, the iQOO 12 series packs an improved camera system. Of course, you also get better battery performance, display, and a sleeker design. As for the price, the regular model has a starting price of CNY3999, which is around US$549. The Pro model, on the other hand, starts at CNY4999, which is around US$686.

iQOO 12 Pro Main Highlights

Among the two, the iQOO 12 Pro steals the spotlight as it is currently the brand’s most high-end device. Here’s a closer look at all its highlighted features:

Design

As mentioned earlier, the devices in the iQOO 12 series come with a sleeker design. But the 12 Pro has a curvier body than the regular model. It also features a thin frame and boasts tempered glass panels on both the front and back. The unit is available in three different colors. Each of them comes with a unique finish.

iQOO 12 Black

Among them, there’s the BMW Motorsport collab edition. It comes in a white colorway, featuring a porcelain enamel textured glass. On the other hand, the black iQOO 12 Pro features AG glass on the back. It features a soft texture that shimmers in different lighting conditions.

Lastly, the Red model comes with a vegan leather finish. iQOO calls this color variant “wind imprint texture.” But what’s really interesting about this color variant is that it comes with a Paris hobnail texture. In short, all the color variants have a touch of uniqueness to them.

Display

The iQOO 12 Pro is a gaming-focused game. So, it goes without saying that the brand has put a good amount of emphasis on the screen. It comes with an E7 AMOLED screen featuring a resolution of 1440×3200 pixels. This resolution ensures detailed visuals.

But what’s really important is that the screen of iQOO 12 Pro has support for a 140 Hz refresh rate. This will make gamers enjoy fluid and smooth motions and animations.

12 Pro Display

To enhance the visual experience even further, the display integrates 1440Hz PWM dimming. It enables the panel to smoothly adjust the brightness. On the note of brightness, the display of iQOO 12 Pro can reach up to 1600 nits in normal mode. And in peak mode, it can reach 3000 nits.

This brightness rating means that the iQOO 12 Pro can ensure a proper viewing experience even under harsh lighting conditions.

SoC, RAM, and Storage

Another aspect where the iQOO 12 Pro showcases that it’s truly made for gamers is in terms of internals. The phone packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is the current flagship SoC for Android phones.

iQOO has paired that chipset with 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of super-fast UFS 4.0 storage. These specs make the device fully ready to offer great frame rates on all modern AAA mobile games.

iQOO 12 Pro Chipsets

In addition, the iQOO 12 Pro comes with the self-developed Q1 chipset. This chip ensures a smooth gaming experience at up to 144 Hz while the phone is at 1080p resolution. It also brings advanced features such as low latency frame insertion, super-resolution, and superframe.

Camera Configuration of iQOO 12 Pro

On the back, the iQOO 12 Pro comes with an all-around camera system. It comprises a 50 MP primary sensor, which is the OmniVision OV50H. iQOO has integrated a 23 mm optically stabilized lens, making the primary sensor deliver smooth images and video captures.

In addition, the camera config of the iQOO 12 Pro has a 64 MP 1/2-inch telephoto sensor. Like the primary sensor, it features an optically stable lens. But for telephoto, iQOO has opted for a 70 mm f/2.57 lens. It can offer 3x optical zoom and can do 10x HD zoom with up to 100x digital zoom.

iQOO calls this periscope lens a 70-230 mm camera and says that it can even do telephoto macro. Then, there’s the 50 MP 15 mm ultrawide sensor. It also has a dedicated macro mode of its own. On the front, the phone offers a 16 MP f/2.45 selfie shooter.

Other Spes

The other highlights of the iQOO 12 Pro include a 5100 mAh battery with 120-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging support. And in terms of software, the phone boots OriginOS 4, which is based on Android 14.
