Google has made a major announcement regarding its Generative AI in search, revealing that it will now be available in over 120 new countries and territories. This expansion marks the largest international rollout of the Search Generative Experience (SGE) to date.

Initially, SGE was only accessible in the United States, but it recently expanded to include India and Japan. For those in the newly added countries, you can activate SGE in Chrome on desktop by visiting Search Labs. In the coming week, access will also extend through the Google app on Android and iOS devices.

To celebrate this expansion, Google has added four new languages to SGE: Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian. These languages have now support for all users.

Moreover, the latest update allows users to ask follow-up questions directly from the search results page. Additionally, as you delve deeper into a topic, you can view your previous questions and search results, including search ads, in dedicated ad spaces throughout the page. This update will be gradually rolled out in the upcoming weeks, beginning with English in the United States.

In the near future, SGE will introduce a feature where if you request a translation for a phrase with ambiguous words, those terms will be highlighted. By tapping on any of the highlighted words, you can specify the intended meaning. Initially, this AI-powered translation capability will be available for English-to-Spanish translations in the United States, with plans to support more countries and languages.

Lastly, on relevant searches related to coding and health, specific words will be highlighted. Hovering over these words will provide a preview of their definition or related images. This update will be gradually available over the next month in English in the United States, and further expansion to other countries and languages will happen soon.

Overall, Google’s expansion of Generative AI in search and the enhancements made to the Search Generative Experience bring increased accessibility, language support, and interactive features to users worldwide.
