Realme recently confirmed the launch of the Realme GT5 Pro smartphone. The brand will finally unveil its flagship to compete with the likes of the Xiaomi 14 series. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone will soon join its vanilla brother the Realme GT5. The new handset promises to be a step up in terms of photography with the addition of a periscope lens. Today, Realme confirmed the Realme GT5 Pro launch for December 7 thanks to a new teaser (Source).

Relame GT5 Pro Launch Date Has Been Confirmed – The Phone Brings Periscope Lens

Realme confirmed its new flagship will debut on December 7 in China. The event will go live at 2 PM (UTC + 8) and will be available through the company’s streaming channels. It is worth noting that the Realme GT5 Pro will be the first smartphone in the Realme GT series to use a periscope lens. The use of periscope lenses became a standard for some smartphone brands focused in photography. The Realme GT series never had its focus in photography. However, this changes now with the Realme GT5 Pro. The use of a periscope lens will allow the phone to bring more advanced zoom.

More Details About the Camera Have Been Teased

In addition to the launch date, Realme also took the opportunity to share more details about the camera. The device will come with a 50 MP Sony IMX 890 periscope telephoto sensor. The sensor will be equipped with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Realme will also equip the handset with 1/1.56-inch sensor size, 2.7x optical zoom, and 120x digital zoom support.

The smartphone will be a real upgrade in terms of photography. Realme also confirmed it with capabilities for shooting in RAW mode. The brand confirms that the primary and periscope telephoto lens can shoot DOL-HDR images.

What is DOL-DHR?

Digital overlap HDR (DOL-HDR) delivers the data from multiple exposures on a line-by-line basis rather than frame-by-frame, reducing HDR combination artifacts. This improves picture quality, especially under poor light conditions, compared to multi-exposure HDR.

The Realme will also feature an 8 MP OV08D10 ultra-wide-angle lens. It is worth noting that this is the same 50 MP primary sensor coming with the OnePlus 12 smartphone. Obviously, there are more elements to be considered in the camera setup. But we can see that the BBK Electronics Group will be adopting the same primary camera for two of its flagships.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in tow, 1.5K BOE Display

Under the hood, the Realme GT5 Pro will carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB of RAM. These specifications were confirmed on the Geekbench benchmark. The device will run on Android 14 straight out of the box with Realme UI running atop. The 24 GB variant scored an impressive 2,225 points in Single-Core and 6,663 points in Multi-Core tests. The 3C listing reveals that the device will support 100W wired fast charging. The device will come with BOE’s 1.5K resolution AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The Realme GT5 Pro is expected to come with a 5,400 mAh battery with 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Realme GT5 Pro Could be a Step up For the Brand in the Flagship Market

The Realme GT5 Pro looks to be a very interesting flagship. It will arrive on December 7 and will stand as one of the final releases of 2023. The handset will compete with the likes of the Xiaomi 14 series, and will also be an alternative for other upcoming flagships like the OnePlus 12, Redmi K70 Pro, and even the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. It’s also interesting to see Realme improving its camera capabilities within the Realme GT series. This proves that the brand is definitively raising the bar for the Realme GT series when it comes to competing with premium flagships. We expect the brand to keep teasing the phone as there are still two weeks to come before the release.
