Following widespread complaints on Google’s forums and negative feedback on the Play Store reviews regarding the new colors in Google Maps, users have taken their concerns to petitions. A Change.org petition has been initiated, urging Google to revert the changes, particularly highlighting the potential difficulties for colorblind users.

The petition emphasizes the need for Google to reconsider the color alterations and advocates for a stronger focus on the accessibility aspect of Google Maps. The recent Google Maps update introduced various color changes, such as different shades of gray for roads, teal for water, and mint for forests, resulting in a visual similarity to Apple Maps.

Despite the user backlash, Google has not officially responded to the criticism. While hoping users would adapt to the new interface, the company has faced significant backlash. Some users describe the new interface as a “cold and computer-generated” UI. Concerns have been raised about the cluttered interface, suggesting a need for a more streamlined design with a primary focus on maps.
