OnePlus 12 Becomes Official With Powerful Specs and Camera Hardware

OnePlus 12 launch

After weeks of teasing, OnePlus has finally unrolled the curtains on the OnePlus 12. With this launch, the company is celebrating its 10th anniversary. And while we already have a good number of devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 already, this has to be the most exciting launch so far.

As a matter of fact, the OnePlus 12 has positioned itself as one of the very best Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 devices you can purchase right now. And while the design of the device is similar to its predecessors, it comes with a lot of upgrades. These upgrades range from the camera setup to the software to the IP rating and so on.

Main Highlights of the OnePlus 12

OnePlus did an amazing job with the OnePlus Open. It addressed a good number of things that other foldable devices were missing out on. And it seems like the brand didn’t hold back for OnePlus 12 either. It’s packed with flagship features. Here’s a quick rundown:

Display

OnePlus 12 comes with a beautiful curved 6.82-inch LTPO screen on the front. This AMOLED panel features a 1440 x 3168 pixel resolution, which means it won’t fail to deliver excellent visuals. It also comes with an adaptive refresh rate, ranging from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, ensuring smoother animations on the screen.

Screen

As OnePlus teased before, it’s the BOE panel that’s advertised to achieve a whopping 4500 NITS of peak brightness. Of course, the peak brightness rating isn’t something that you would normally see the display reach. Instead, it’s mainly for HDR content.

White and Green

In regular usage, the OnePlus 12 should reach around 1600 NITS of brightness. That brightness rating is considered good for different harsh lighting conditions, such as being directly under the sun.

Other than that, the display of the OnePlus 12 comes with a 2160 HZ PWM dimming feature. Combined with blue light filtering tech, the device should deliver exceptional comfort during different settings.

Superior Camera Setup of the OnePlus 12

This time, OnePlus packed the OnePlus 12 with the best possible camera hardware it had hands-on. The device comes with a Hasselblad-branded camera setup. This setup consists of the 50 MP main shooter that OnePlus has previously showcased by sharing camera samples of the device.

camera setup

Yes, it’s Sony’s new LYTIA 808 Sensor with dual-layer stacking technology. It has 1.12 µm pixels and features a 24 mm equivalent lens with f/1.7 aperture and OIS. This sensor makes the OnePlus 12 sit comfortably among the best flagship camera phones. And it would be interesting to see what DXOMARK thinks of the device’s camera performance.

Cameras

In case you didn’t know, it’s the same sensor that OnePlus has used in OnePlus Open. And OnePlus Open is currently one of the best camera devices that you can get your hands on.

There are two more sensors on the back of the OnePlus 12. Among them is the 64 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom capability. It has in-sensor zoom to deliver up to 6x lossless zoom. Next is a 48 MP ultrawide shooter with a 14 mm equivalent lens.

Battery, Build, Software, and Other Features

Regarding battery performance, the OnePlus 12 packs a large 5400 mAh cell. It is one of the largest batteries we’ve seen in a OnePlus device until now. And it can charge extremely fast, at 100 watts in the wired, to be precise. Let’s not forget that it also features wireless charging at 50 watts, with a 10-watt reverse charging feature.

Wireless charging OnePlus 12

To recall, the predecessor didn’t come with wireless charging. So, the feature is making a comeback with this launch. Another great aspect of the OnePlus 12 is that it comes with an IP65 rating. This makes the smartphone more capable of withstanding harsh outdoor conditions.

IP rating OnePlus 12

OnePlus 12 boots on ColorOS 14.0, which is based on Android 14. However, it should be noted that OnePlus utilizes ColorOS only for the Chinese market. When the device lands in international regions, it should come with OxygenOS 14.

Besides, the OnePlus 12 will deliver the best possible wireless connectivity with Bluetooth 5.4 and WiFi 7. It also brings an IR blaster, which you can use to control different electronics. And as it boasts a USB Type-C 3.2 connector, you can expect faster-wired transfer speeds.

Pricing and Availability of OnePlus 12

The OnePlus 12 comes in White, Emerald Green, and Black color options. Pricing for the base model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is CNY4299 (US$607). The top-end model with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage is CNY5799 (US$818).

Colors OnePlus 12

At the current stage, the OnePlus 12 is currently in the pre-order stage in China. Open sales will start in that region starting from December 11. As for the international release, it’s likely scheduled for January next year.

Reviews and comments can be helpful most times. Permit me to share that, in the first week of March this year I was convinced to invest in a fake Altcoin cryptocurrency platform through someone I connected with on Telegram x, which I did but unfortunately after investing my money I discovered I could not withdraw or access my account on the fake platform. Lucky for me, I came across a review on funds recovery and I contacted: Hackrecovery AT Yandex Dot Ru, and through their help and support I was able to recover my money. Losing money trading crypto can be frustrating but I am happy today that my funds were recovered and I wish to share with you.
