Realme held a Realme GT5 Pro launch conference this afternoon and officially released the Realme GT5 Pro. This device is the latest flagship phone from the Chinese brand and it comes with the latest Snapdragon chip in the market. Although it comes with flagship features, its price is pretty fair as it starts at 3,399 yuan (about $478).
Realme GT5 Pro Launch Details
Design and Appearance
In terms of appearance, the Realme GT5 Pro adopts a star-light track lens design. It also uses the industry’s first super-hard aluminium middle frame. The company claims that this frame is stronger than titanium alloy. The screen is both straight and curved. This means that the screen has a straight look but a curved feel. The chin width is only 1.94mm, claiming to challenge the narrowest chin on curved screens.
Realme GT5 Pro offers three colour options including black (starry night), burnt orange and white chalk colour. This device is made of high-end technology nano-skin, which is wear-resistant more than 500,000 times. It also feels skin-friendly and more wear-resistant. The black version uses a Star Flash AG glass technology. The light and shadow are like stars.
Display
In terms of the display, the Realme GT5 Pro uses a custom and unique screen. The display is jointly developed by Realme and BOE. The company claims that the screen can challenge the world’s most powerful 1.5K screen and lead the screen brightness into the 4K+ era. The device uses a 6.78-inch 2780×1264 OLED screen. The display uses BOE S1 luminescent material (ie BOE X1) and has the industry’s highest peak brightness of 4500nit. It can achieve manual brightness of up to 1000nit and global brightness of up to 1600nit. It also supports Pro-XDR high dynamic display and Dolby Vision HDR video playback.
Furthermore, the screen supports ultimate eye protection, new generation 8T LTPO and 2160Hz PWM dimming. In addition to the high-brightness DC dimming, it has the Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 certification. The new screen also supports a 144Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz instant touch, 20,000-level dimming, and a custom refresh rate.
Palmprint Unlocking & AI gesture control
The Realme GT5 Pro also comes with a new technology called fast palmprint unlocking. The Realme GT5 Pro’s palmprint unlocking has undergone over 10,000 model training. The company claims that its unlocking speed is comparable to face unlocking speed. It unlocks securely and has passed tens of millions of attack tests 100%.
In addition, this new phone also supports AI gesture control. It can realize air-to-air interactions such as mobile clicks, swipes, and screen breaks. It also supports 12 types of air-to-air gestures and can be used to swipe short videos, like, and take screenshots in the air. However, some of these gestures are currently exclusive to some apps like Douyin. It is worth noting that the Realme GT5 Pro is also the first in the industry to unlock fast palmprints.
Chip and Performance
In terms of performance, the Realme GT5 Pro comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It also uses a 3VC iceberg cooling system with an area of 12,000mm² and 6 times the equivalent thermal conductivity. In addition, Geek Performance Panel 2.0 was launched, enabling GPU+CPU dual scheduling for the first time.
Realme GT5 Pro debuts an extraordinary e-sports ray tracing engine. It is among the first batch to support the mobile game “Backwater Cold” Light Tracing 2.0. To keep its lights on, the Realme GT5 Pro comes with a 5400 mAh giant battery that supports 100W light-speed flash charging. It also supports 50W wireless flash charging for the first time. This device also launches the AIRVOOC 50W wireless flash charging base, priced at 329 yuan (about $46). The new phone also supports USB 3.2 and provides a maximum storage of 1TB.
3VC iceberg cooling
This device also comes with the 3VC iceberg heat dissipation structure for the first time. Its total heat dissipation VC area can reach 12,000 Square millimetres. The company calls it the largest cooling VC in the industry. This set of 3VC iceberg heat dissipation is known as “challenging the industry’s strongest heat dissipation VC”. It has 6 times the equivalent thermal conductivity and can achieve a maximum cooling of the core heat source of 21.8°C.
This device is the first to use a 3VC 3D heat dissipation architecture, which is made of copper alloy. Realme claims it can improve vertical heat dissipation capabilities. This will bring better heat dissipation performance and can reduce the thickness by 33%.
In terms of actual testing, the device’s average frame rate hit 119.79FPS and it has a maximum temperature of 43.2°C when running “Honor of Kings” for 2 hours at 120FPS + ultimate image quality. At the same time, after the device ran “Genshin Impact” (60FPS, highest image quality) for 30 minutes, the average frame rate hit 59.41FPS.
OS
The Realme GT5 Pro is the first mobile phone to ship with Realme UI 5.0 out of the box. This system will get 4 years of system update maintenance and 3 major Android version updates. Realme UI 5.0 supports the new interactive form of Fluid Cloud, and notification reminders can be obtained at a glance. The file management supports a file transfer station, portable workbench, and file opening at will.
