After weeks of teasers, the nubia Z60 Ultra has finally broke covers in China. It’s ZTE’s latest flagship that aims to carry down the legacy of the past Z series devices from the brand.
Now, in case you’re not familiar, the Z series devices from ZTE are best known for equipping beefy camera setups. And this time, it’s not different. The nubia Z60 Ultra comes with a unique and very capable imaging system on the back. In addition, it comes with other flagship specs that make it capable of delivering a top-notch experience.
Main Highlights of the nubia Z60 Ultra
There are a lot of things to talk about the nubia Z60 Ultra. Here’s a brief rundown of all of its highlighted features:
Display and Design
The nubia Z60 Ultra features a 6.8-inch screen on the front. It’s an AMOLED panel with a 1500 NITS peak brightness rating and 120 Hz refresh rate support. With 2160 Hz of PWM dimming and 1200 Hz of peak sampling rate, the screen has what it takes to deliver a highly enjoyable viewing experience.
On that note, as the front of the device is fully covered with the display and has slim bezels, you can expect a highly immersive experience.
As for the design, the Z60 Ultra sticks very close to the recent nubia phones. To be exact, it has the same angular design as the Z50S Pro. But the upcoming device does come with a unique design island design on the back. Also, nubia has released a special Starry Night edition of the smartphone.
This special edition makes the nubia Z60 Ultra look like a piece of art. The other color options are pretty sleek too.
Camera Setup of the nubia Z60 Ultra
As mentioned earlier, the camera setup is basically what the Z series from nubia is all about. This time, the nubia Z60 Ultra comes with a 12 MP camera with 2.24 μm pixels on the front. It’s an under-display camera that remains fully hidden when it’s not activated.
Moreover, the smartphone has a dedicated display chipset for the under-display camera. This chipset, paired with the AI deep-sensing engine, makes the front camera of the Z60 Ultra capture detail-filled photos.
Gizchina News of the week
On the back, the nubia Z60 Ultra has a 50 MP sensor as the primary camera. It’s an IMX8000 sensor that’s 1/1.49-inch in size with a 35 mm focal length and f/1.6 aperture. The primary camera also features optical image stabilization to deliver steady and detail-rich captures.
For the wide-angle lens, the nubia Z60 Ultra utilizes an 18 mm sensor with f/1.8 aperture and three-level optical stabilization. This three-level optical image stabilization is a unique feature of this lens. And for those wondering, the sensor that’s responsible for the ultra-wide angle shots is a 1/1.56-inch 50 MP unit.
Lastly, there’s a zoom camera on the Z60 Ultra. It’s an 85 mm sensor with optical image stabilization. And it’s none other than the 64 MP 1/2.0-inch OmniVision OV64B sensor that most of the flagship smartphones rely on.
SoC, RAM, Storage, and Other Features
The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powers the nubia Z60 Ultra. It’s paired with super fast UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5X RAM. Now, as it’s a nubia smartphone, it comes with plenty of gaming features. Among them, the biggest highlight is the aerospace-grade thermal plate.
It’s paired with a large-sized vapor chamber and superconducting nanocarbon fiber. This cooling setup keeps the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in optimal condition even when it’s being pushed to the max. So, you can expect the Z60 Ultra to deliver smooth performance on most of the AAA titles.
In addition, the smartphone comes with a dedicated Game Space, which aims to offer a better gaming performance. You also get Super frame stabilization technology.
As for the battery, the nubia Z60 Ultra has a 6000 mAh cell under the hood. It has support for 80-watt wired charging, which should get the battery from 0% to 100% fast. However, there’s no wireless charging, which is not a big deal.
When it comes to the software, the Z60 Ultra runs on MyOS. It’s an Android skin that’s based on Android 14. Regarding storage and RAM, the base version has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The high-end variant, on the other hand, comes with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
In the middle, the nubia Z60 Ultra has two variants with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. Also, the phone features IP68 rating, which makes it capable of handling tough conditions with ease.
