Honor has just revealed the Honor 90 GT in China. It has made its debut as the successor of the Honor 80 GT, which came with a unique design. Just like the predecessor, the new phone takes a spin on the standard outlook that we’re used to seeing in smartphones these days.
But it’s not just the design that makes the Honor 90 GT a proper successor to the last-gen device. It also features flagship-grade specs, packs a robust camera setup on the back, and comes at attractive pricing.
Main Highlights of the Honor 90 GT
There are a lot of things that make the Honor 90 GT a worthy purchase. Here’s a brief rundown of the main highlights:
Design
As mentioned earlier, the design of the Honor 90 GT is one of the biggest standouts. With 1.25 mm narrow bezels on the front, a right-angle frame, and a distinctive lens on the back, it stands out from most of the devices that are on the market. As Honor describes, the camera island on the back is inspired by an “engine.”
This design goes perfectly with the GT naming of the device. And the 90 GT stays true to its name on the GT Blue version. It has a unique track design in which two lines run vertically across the camera island. The other variants of the phone, which are the Fuel Speed Gold and Star Obsidian Black, look eye-pleasing too.
Other than that, the Honor 90 GT maintains a very sleek profile. It’s just 7.9 mm thick and weighs 185 grams.
Display of Honor 90 GT
Honor didn’t skimp on the display of the 90 GT. The device comes with a top-notch eye protection technology. With the 360-degree adaptive dimming technology and class-leading blue light control system, it can offer a comfortable viewing experience. You can enjoy content in different lighting conditions.
Alongside that, the Honor 90 GT features sensors on the front and rear. These help to identify backgrounds faster with a backlight. And when the smartphone can identify backgrounds quickly, it excels in auto brightness adjustment. It also comes with hardware-level blue light filters and has a display feature for better sleep.
But it’s not just the eye-protection tech that makes the screen of 90 GT good. The display has a super-sharp resolution of 2664 x 1200 pixels. That, combined with the fact that it’s a 6.7-inch OLED screen, will offer a delightful viewing experience. And the super-slim bezels of the screen take things even further.
Other highlights of the screen of the Honor 90 GT are 3840 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a local peak brightness of 2600 NITS. Also, it can cover 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, ensuring rich and accurate color production.

Flagship-grade Hardware of Honor 90 GT
Under the hood, the Honor 90 GT comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Yes, it’s a last-gen chipset, and we already have many phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But the 8 Gen 2 still has what it takes to deliver smooth performance. And you won’t find the device struggling while playing AAA mobile games.
To enhance the performance even further, the Honor 90 GT integrates a dedicated engine. As the brand describes, this engine enhances the user experience across three different aspects. They are picture quality, touch control, and performance scheduling. Basically, with this engine, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will deliver better performance than most devices with the same SoC.
Besides, the Honor 90 GT has a robust cooling system. According to Honor, it’s a 5.268 square mm 3D Ice Cold Drive heat dissipation system. It can offer a heat dissipation area of 37347 mm square, which is pretty impressive. This cooling system should lower the chances of the SoC throttling under load.
On the note of SoCs, the Honor 90 GT comes with a dedicated chipset for the display. In addition, it has a self-developed RF enhancement chip, which is the Honor C1. These will take the performance of the smartphone to the next level.
As for the storage and memory, the 90 GT comes with up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. This configuration equips the smartphone to handle most of the resource-intensive tasks smoothly.
Camera Setup and Other Features
When it comes to the camera setup, the Honor 90 GT has a 50 MP Sony IMX906 as the primary sensor on the back. It’s paired with a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle unit. This camera setup makes the device a versatile photography smartphone. On the front, the unit incorporates a 16 MP selfie shooter that can take sharp photos.
As for the battery, the 90 GT sports a 5000 mAh cell that features 100-watt fast charging. Honor says that the battery can charge from 0% to 60% in just 15 minutes. Full charging, on the other hand, takes 32 minutes.
Pricing and Availability
As of now, the Honor 90 GT is currently exclusive to China. It has stepped into the pre-sale phase, with the official sale beginning on December 26. The 12/256 version has a limited-time discounted pricing of CNY2599, which is around $366. And the high-end version with 24/1TB version costs CNY3699, about $521.
