Huawei’s iconic mid-range smartphone series, the Huawei Nova series, will soon receive a refresh under the Huawei Nova 12 series. The company officially confirmed the launch of the new smartphones on December 26. The series will bring a vanilla Huawei Nova 12, a Huawei Nova 12 Pro, and a Nova 12 Pro and the company is slowly teasing its specifications. Today, the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station shed some light on the phone camera sensors.
Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Ultra will have 50 MP main cameras and 60 MP selfie shooters
According to the new information, the Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Nova 12 Ultra will bring a 50 MP main camera with variable f/1.4-4.0 aperture. That’s the same camera module found on other Huawei smartphones as the Nova 11 Ultra, the P60 Pro flagship, and the Huawei Mate 60 series. If it’s the same module, then the Nova 12 Pro and 12 Ultra will have a similar camera performance as these smartphones, hence, there won’t be upgrades over the past generation Nova 11 Ultra. The leakster states there won’t be a periscope shooter.

The Huawei Nova 12 Pro and Ultra will impress in the selfie department. The two phones will have a dual-camera setup at the front. There will be a main 60 MP camera and an 8 MP secondary camera. Once again, this sounds like the same setup as the Huawei Nova 11 Pro and Ultra. However, Digital Chat Station states that this time around the second shooter is a 2x telephoto camera. The Huawei Nova series is known for introducing powerful selfie cameras and the newer phones will keep this tradition. The two devices will also bring 1.5K displays, which is the Chinese marketing term for displays with 1220p resolution.
Apart from the camera and display, there are no further details about the smartphones. The launch date drawing near, so we expect Huawei to bring more teasers to build the hype for its release. The Huawei Nova series is a decent selfie-focused lineup and the new models will keep this tradition.
