Google Wallet Expands: 44 New Banks Now Supported

Google Wallet has become one of our favorite wallet apps on Android for several reasons, and its list of features continues to expand. This versatile app not only brings the convenience of contactless payments to your device but also allows you to store various government-issued ID cards, loyalty cards, and memberships for services like the gym or yacht club. In the United States, the Wallet app has seen significant growth since its days as Google Pay, with 44 more banks joining to support the app in December 2023. The continuous enhancements make Google Wallet a comprehensive and user-friendly solution for managing various aspects of your financial and membership-related transactions on your Android device.

In September 2021, Google Wallet, known as Google Pay at the time, gained attention as the number of bank sign-ons surpassed 3,000 in the US. However, this was just the beginning, considering there are over 5,000 financial institutions in the country. Over the years, Google Wallet has continued to expand its partnerships, enabling users to utilize cards from a growing number of banks within the app. Most recently, 44 additional banks have signed agreements to support Google Wallet, further enhancing its accessibility and usability for users.
